You can't INSTALL eqemu, because there is nothing TO install.

All you need is EQWindows ( www.eqwindows.com ), change your EQHOST.txt file in your EverQuest folder, and thats it
(just make sure you have the right EQ patch date to match the server version #, check the IRC chat for proper days to patch)

But, that's only if you want to play on another persons server. If you wanna host your own.... for a new person at this, it can take a full day to understand it sometimes if you try and do it on your own, also reading outdated tutorials can become a drag because of not properly updated information.

why would he need eqwindows...

and even if you make your own server you still wont be able to play on it without the right eq version. your choices are either play www.wintersroar.com or post your email adress and someone will send you the files needed to patch your eq to the old version which eqemu uses

EqWindows is like the patchme prompt to make you go into eqemu to make sure you don't patch anymore incase they say dont patch and you do patch like a retard.

mysticalninjajesus, ive been here sense 4.4 and ive patched millions of times on the wrong dates so I was stuck on 4.4 for a long time and learned to either do patchme prompt or eqwindows, its the safest way.

spike if you really had that much trouble not clicking everquest.exe and patched the wrong time 1 million times your a god damn tard. if you want to click everquest.exe randomly all the time make a new folder for eqemu and have a live folder too where u can patch first and use a test folder for eqemu

mysticalninjajesus, I understand that every human being on earth does things for conceeded reasons, but seriously SHUT UP.

Did you know that even jesus is conceeded? It's true, he does things to gain things in return. He helped people to gain worship. I am a christian, but I do believe that we do things for reasons and in this case you are completely stupid and wrong and I want your stupid hands to be chopped off so you cannot type anymore, ok? Lets prey it happens.

My point was that I had a life outside of EQEMU for a long time and have had to patch, find the correct binaries, and I usually patched on wrong dates. Because back then EQ use to go through alot of patches and I had problems with patching on correct dates. Also, none of the rollbacks were legal back then and none existed on websites like scorpions or wintersroar, you had to google search for rollbacks, at that time it was only for 4.4, so it was just a matter of guessing, PLUS, we had no knowledge of what days to patch and not to patch. That was before the IRC chatroom MOTD thing said if it was ok to patch or not, and at that time just asking if its ok to patch got u either banned or kicked from IRC.

YOU ARE WRONG, I AM RIGHT, IF YOU RESPOND TO THIS POST, YOU ARE CLAIMED FULLY RETARTED BY ALL THAT IS HUMANE!

Correct .dlls + .exes = 10 MB of space MAXIMUM.

Hard drive space isn't an issue unless you're a hardcore porn downloader.

LOL

I agree with Spike. I have been around sence 3.8. It was like every week that EQlive have a new patch that broke EQEMu and no one knew about tell it F"ed them and wouldnt let them connect. I remeber when i got my server running I wanted to stay up-to-date I didnt go to www.eqemu.com (thats what it was at the time) to see if there was a new EQlive patch. Also you need more then the DLL and exes ... I know becuase i backed up like 50Mbs of DLLs EXEs XMLs and few other file types and when i patched to EQlive and it F'ed my server client I recopied those files into my dir...

Another way i can explane it. Try to re name one of the zone to another zone name and try to play. I think the client checks to see what file sizes all of map(zones) are before it loads them.
So if you want to back up your EQEMu folder i would say you would have to copy the whole thing.

And lets say your HD is 20Gbs:
WindowsXP 1.5GB Windows98 250MB
Drivers for both about 100MBs
OEM programs 1GB.
windows updates 200MBs
Everquest 5GBs
EVerquest backup 5GBs
DX9.0 9MBs +50-100MB
PF 200-1GB
thats about 15GBs file there.

thats alot of disk space if thats all you have on it.

Umm you Know, you don't need eqwindows at all... Just create a shortcut for eqgame.exe to your desktop, right click it, click on properties. Then in the Target window after the quotes add in patchme. You can then delete the everquest.exe shortcut if your problem was clicking on that by mistake every now and then...

sorry but no....

try this if you have a verson of 4.0+ take the dll and exes and put them in your 5.5+ eqemu dir

Or take the exes and dlls from 5.5 and put them into your 6.0 EQEmu folder...

I can tell you it wont work.

By saying, "Because we all know dlls and exes are the only things that ever break eqemu," I was mocking them. :)

The literal version of that sentence would be, "Dlls and exes are not the only things that break eqemu".
