edit -
Here's the page link and some info. BTW - the file is hosted on my home server at a max dl speed of 512kbit, so the file will take ~10min to DL.

Here's links to some frame grabs of it in motion. These are untouched.
Once - I'm happy with the .scn import to OZ, I will give the download and the included 250 zone objects.
BTW - all the 3D objects are made by myself from scratch. I've been doin' modeling for years and years...

Hello,

Dont take it bad GeorgeS, its a nice work, but where is the point in another world editor ? i mean, its the point of OZ, ok, OZ is far from being perfect, but i dont see where the point in 2 world editors, its like, another item editor :)

But i admit i cant wait to see what your editor will looks like even if im sure i wont use it. Also, would it be possible to see ingame shots of your zones ? Generally, if not always, zones rendered with a renderer or another client looks like VERY different with EQClient :)

But one more time, nice works.

Well it's true what you say, but I never originally intended if for EQ zone creation exclusively. I decided last week to implement it so .scn output works for OZ import.

It's a tool you can make worlds in for any personal game, not just EQEMU
But anyway it's ok, these are free tools for anyone to use.

Some things it can handle - eg. spawn a random forest based on terrain height. lay down many buildings rapidly.
Create a rapid village, etc..and in a 3D 'real in game feel'

Giving people a variety of tools is not bad.

In game shots are in the works - once I get that far

Wow - very nice work. Absolutely gorgeous.
I don't mind another world editor. I'm a coder, not a modeler, and OpenZone is designed for noobs like me who don't know one end of a real 3D tool from another. OpenZone is more of a "zone construction set" than a full-blown editor, with basic import and export capabilities.

I'm working on OpenZone 5.7 now, and hopefully I'll have a release out very soon. I also noticed that my sample zones aren't in the OpenZone section so I'll be uploading those as well.

GeorgeS really nice lucious forests, and beatiful models. Is the world editor including models? that'd be pretty sweet, considering im more of a DM then a modeler.

As of tonight, there are almost 300 models I finished. Also, had to redo the center axis for them all. Must rest my hand now. I made about 20 RPG style mushrooms, that hopefully will look nice.

I still need to make the interiors of houses - that's for another nite...

All media is included, so yes it's free to use. All I request is an honorable mention in credits.

...Slightly off topic - just finished my automatic seamless texture maker that recursively parses an entire directory and converts and valid media.

If all goes well, the zone import to OZ will work as I think, adding a new level of level design, good or bad.

Just an update...

Figured out the Z-height translation for objects on my end. Finally you can create zones and import then into OZ sucessfully.

I am finishing up a few object UV's that are off, and should have a download
available friday night.

I also intend to make a few decent scenes so show what it can do, but I'm still a bit behind the curve in OZ zone making.

I still need to make those house interiors and market goods...sometime next week.

I had to finish off fixing many objects that had problems, but I think these are ok now. Also, imported a scn with over 200 placeables in my desert scene and it imported into OZ fine. All objects were positioned fine and were touching the ground. So I am happy that I got that far.

The help pdf is essential to have been read prior to working with UWE. Also, the .exe was compiled for DX7 so it should run on about any DX compliant windows system at native 1024x768 32bit res. Let me know if it does not run for you.

Here's the page link and some info. BTW - the file is hosted on my home server at a max dl speed of 512kbit, so the file will take ~10min to DL.
