Hello, im thinking of making my own personal server but im not sure what kind of power i need. Do you think a P2 450Mhz with 256MB ram is sufficient for the task with 2 other boxes connecting?

450Mhz is slow and would be laggy if you ran your client also...
I run 2.0 gig and 10 zones and im lagging when I run my client.
I don't see the need for more than one box also RAM is very important
for running the zones....less ram less zones.

If he's only wanting 2 people connecting, that's 4 or 5 dynamic zones needed at most, he should be fine with 256 RAM.

I'd say your specs should be able to run it with too much trouble, but I'd get someone to double check that.

I have two good AMD boxes that i want to play on and i have the old P2 450 collecting dirt, was just trying to find a purpose for it. But if its ram that i need that can easily be fixed cause i can upgrade.

I wasnt trying to bash pentium with the AMD remark, (well maybe subconsiously) hehe :0) My two, lets say up to date computers with AMD processors is the ones me and my wife play eq on. I figured the P2 would be to slow, looks like my wife gonna have to find something else to occupy her time.
