I just set up a linux eqemu server, with the latest SVN of eqemu and the latest CVS of peq. i am running minilogin through wine.

the eqemu server loads up fine, with no database errors as far as i can tell.

the problem shows up in minilogin. when the eqemu server connects to minilogin (both on the same computer), I get a weird output from Minilogin(server name is Mystery Thicket):

~/eqemu/minilogin $ wine MiniLogin.exe

eqemu seems to be just fine, though.

i am a bit confused. my first attempt at running eqemu worked as far as minilogin is concerned -- but i accidentally was using an old peq database (velious) with the latest eqemu svn, so it didnt get very far. thanks for any help.

That all looks just fine to me.

The long paste is the login packet that sends server name, and ip info to the login server from world.

It says connected so I would assume its working as intended.

hm. but the server does not show up in the server list. for now i will rule out minilogin being the problem, maybe i'll find something else wrong.

Try the new mini login. Its much more recent and image did a good job

this one hosts 20 users and upto 3 servers connected. Might work out better for you.

ahhh many thanks. am i correct in understanding that this new minilogin uses a separate database just for login info?

I tried running the 408 build with MiniLogin 6.2 and I cannot connect to my server either (it does not show up in the server list). I also get these new things popping up in the MiniLogin windows...as shown in the above posts. I want to be able to use MiniLogin on my server and not this new login server. I don't want to rely on another server in the world making my emulator function. I don't know how many time my friends and I would be playing on my EQEmu server while these login servers were down and no other could play on their servers. Is MiniLogin just abandoned now ...or... will a new working version come out?

I have a functioning EQEmu server (1129, Rev89...I think) that has been using MiniLogin very successfully for a while. Just to verify I have had a working MiniLogin config already.

I don't know how to make the old Minilogin work, but switching to "New MiniLogin" solved my problem (mentioned above somewhere). it's a slightly different configuration though. Uses a new mysql table if I remember correctly.

I understand that this new server works...but it sounds like I must rely on some server to be up and running in order to get into my EQEmu server (located in my own house). No other emulator I run relies on any outside server to run (login). I understand the encryption issues...but this IP Address authentication that MiniLogin did was just fine with me. I had a PHP page do the authentication part for me...worked like a charm and I did not need anyone elses server to say I am allowed to play on my EQEmu server. So people saying to use this "new login server" gave an answer...but not the right answer.

please read this thread. it is not about a public login server. it is about minilogin. a new minilogin.

This is just a login server that allows for private play...as far as I could tell, it relies on a separate server to authenticate. I have to point config files to this outside server and register on it to get my logins to work. Am I misunderstanding this process?

You can't run eqemu without some kind of login server. But you can run the login server on the same computer as eqemu. Just run them in parallel. That is what I do.

Ok...then I think I "did" misunderstand this "new login server" process. I am gonna download it and give it a try. Thanks & sorry for the ranting.

Well...after a morning of bitching on the forums...I got it to work. I only got confused because all the articles I was reading about this PrivateLogin had a step about going to this website to create an account. I though this "had" to be done in order to authenticate users...but I was wrong. I am now up and running with the Angelox's latest binaries. Thanks for the replies/help.

people, to get Old Minilogin to work with builds past rev 302 you MUSt replace opcodes.conf file in minilogin folder with the one that comes in Rev you trying to run

the original minilogin opcodes.conf is from 2005 build!!! Somehow it kepts working with all the revs untill recently (uncluding 302) but i gues once Rev started including SoF support it broke.

The development team has been updating the opcodes lately to include many which we're marked unknown and not mapped. I'm not sure why this would affect the minilogin unless it is connected to changes for SoF.
