Faratain newbie quest trouble

I am stumped guys, a user told me Faratain's sword quest is broken. I checked it out and it is in fact broken but I can't figure out why. When I hand in 20421 it does not trigger the event_item, I think, because he doesn't even hand the item back.

I removed all the code except the event_item I wanted to trigger just in case there was a typo i was missing and had no luck.

I know some people has reported issues with the lua handin before..it may not be this quest specific.

If you're testing, you can try another lua-based scripted quest to see what your results are.
