If you guys dont see me around for a week or so, my entire city has lost power (Charlotte NC, Population 300k).

Can anyone recommend any good generators? After this ordeal, I think I'm going to go buy one!!

Just go to your local Home Depot (or similar store) and talk to the folks there. Let them know what kind of things you'd want to run on the generator and they can recommend the appropriate engine power level. Buy a brand you know and trust and you should be fine.

Well, I found the Coleman 6250, 5000 Watt generator i can get pretty reasonably..

I am very wary of Home Depot, I wouldnt consider most of those folks 'seasoned professionals' , so i'd probably go to a local hardware store first to ask for advice.
