How to Export Character Models
I have dug as far into the Unity EQ post as I could it looks like the project and all of the links are dead. Does anybody know how to go about extracting the character models to a format usable by modern 3d modeling and animation software?
Or if anybody has a copy of the work they did on that project available it would be greatly appretiated. Just want to do a little personal project for fun using those models. |
Well, in my continued digging I found a great thread here
http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/showthread.php?t=34143 Im hoping somebody can direct me to where I could find the old chequip.s3d file I need for this project. |

Above are assets, below is the code unity client: https://github.com/UnityEQ/UnityEQWebGL eqemu server: https://github.com/UnityEQ/UnityEQServer I do have that old chequip on a hard drive, but I have to dig for that one. |
Thank you very much. I was actually able to dig out my old trilogy discs and get the chequip file. This list of assets is awesome though I wasnt able to figure out animations.
This was just a project I was doing for fun but basically made a dark souls inspired combat system using EQ models. I have a few ideas to do more with them in the future Thank you again! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrGbVsDb7-k |
Is that open source? I'd like to play with ragdolls and limb removal with blood squirting out and whatnot.
Never had an arcade style thing where I had a reason for it. This looks perfect |
Tyen05,
What did you use to export the whole zone? I tried using ninjaripper and 3d ripper but didnt have much luck. |
pre-build I tracked a guy down who was working on exporting models. Those are the models in the dropbox. He never gave me the source code.
A great resource is in the eqemu discord. A guy named Zaela is pretty much the expert in exporting/importing models that hasn't disappeared yet. Although, animations are going to be a big problem. A plus side to animations, is that the models have horrendous joints/bones. Just re-rig and make your own animations with Mixamo or Autodesk Motionbuilder |
