Rise of Norrath
 
The Rise of Norrath is a project I've been working on for a couple of days or so, but I've already founded a small playerbase due to some quality of life adjustments and custom modifications.

Some quality of life adjustments are as follows:
  • Endless Quiver, Pet Affinity, Pet Discipline, Advanced Pet Discipline, and Permanent Illusion AAs are available for all classes at level 1 for 0 AA Points.
  • Skills increase to their maximum on level up.
  • Players heal on level up.
  • No corpse runs, players leave naked corpses for resurrection purposes.
  • Increased experience by 50 percent server-wide.
  • Increased experience by 75 percent in hotzones.
  • Free starter gear, bags, and arrows on a merchant in Thundercrest Isles.
  • Pets no longer require reagents.
    • No Malachite, Tiny Daggers, or Bone Chips for pets.
  • Enchanter pets are able to be controlled like any other pet.
  • Rangers can /autofire at point-blank range.
  • Players have access to #peqzone, #mystats, and some various custom commands.
  • Nearly any race can be any class:
    • Exceptions would be classes without proper animations, no Barbarian Magician or Dark Elf Monk for example.
  • Spells and disciplines can be learned in Thundercrest Isles.
  • Buffs are available in Thundercrest Isles.
Some custom changes that have been made are as follows:
  • Melee, spell, and skill damage are scaled based on statistics and continue to rise exponentially as you progress.
  • Currently three tiers beyond the level 70 cap have been released with a total of ten tiers of items made.
  • Each accessory piece is a progression of its own, requiring AA Points to rank up.
  • AA Tokens drop in zones starting with the higher leveling zones and continuing into the tiers.
  • Epic 1.0s have been buffed dramatically and are available for 100 AA Points.
  • Tier shards drop in tier zones and are used to buy Tier items.

There is a lot more that has been done, but I honestly cannot remember it all. I thought I'd make a public post for people on the server to respond to and for people who may be interested in a custom server.

I liked the server ect. Just not a fan of the beefed up defiant gear idea. May check it out again though seems a lot changed since last time it was up

Defiant gear hasn't been touched, I'm just using it as a way to provide a full set of armor, weapons, and accessories for leveling players before they make it to the progression. This server is completely different from DreamQuest, despite sharing a similar name.

So I have played here for a few days and while there are some nice features like auto scribe and skill ups and such, it looks like the AA grind will be soul crushing and has chased me away from the server. And I also understand the server is in "alpha" so perhaps one can revisit it later after some balancing.

In order to access the tier 1 armor farming zone, you need to buy a key off a merchant for 1k aa's to get the flag, tier 2 is 2k aa and so on up till the tier 10 key which is 10k aa. Now for 1 character to access tiers 1 to 10 requires 55000 aa's, if your boxing add another 55k for each box.

Now there are aa tokens that drop in the tier zones and so I did some grinding in BoT and was able to bang out 1000 aa's worth of tokens in an hour with 6 characters and 2 players. So while that may seem impressive, it means I need to grind BoT for 55 hours per character to get all the aa's I need for access keys. This doesn't of course count the armor tokens that need to be farmed in each zone for the armor (which ramps up from 5 tokens per piece for t1 to 50 tokens per piece for t10). Mobs in the first 3 tier zone only dropped 1 token each and not everytime.

So kingly can feel free to correct me if I am wrong on something but I just felt I would throw this out there so people know what they are getting into heh heh

I increased the AA Token drop rate in Kael, Sleeper, Temple of Veeshan, Akheva, and Bastion of Thunder by 25 percent and lowered the price of the tier keys quite a bit.

Tier One is now 1,000.
Tier Two is now 1,500.
Tier Three is now 2,000.
Tier Four is now 2,500.
Tier Five is now 3,000.
Tier Six is now 3,500.
Tier Seven is now 4,000.
Tier Eight is now 5,000.
Tier Nine is now 6,000.
Tier Ten is now 7,500.

Each tier zone also gets higher and higher AA Tokens, with Tier Three dropping up to 100 AA Tokens, Tier Four will drop up to 200, Tier Five up to 500, Tier Six up to 1,000, Tier Seven up to 2,000, and Tier Eight up will drop up to 5,000 AA.

The grind becomes easier as you progress.

I also adding instancing for Kael, Sleeper, Temple of Veeshan, Akheva, and Bastion of Thunder. Lord Potato will make you an instance for 10,000 Platinum.

As of today, Tier Four and Epic 1.5s have been released.

Epic 1.5s are available for 2,500 AA Points on our AA Merchant.

Statistics on Tier armor have been scaled to make them more linear.

Our custom #exp command that provides Lesson of the Devoted is now a group-buff that costs 5,000 Platinum and can be used every three hours.

Starting zone is down, or at least you can't login if the character is logged out in Thundercrest.

Did an emergency restart. Noticed the zone.exe had skyrocketed up to a massive 7GB of RAM somehow. Hopefully the issue is resolved.

If I wasn't lazy I would copy and paste this 300 more times.

Every time I level up I lag for a good 20 seconds, even if I solo. Was a decently fun server but pretty unplayable.

There's nothing wrong with my code or the host. When you're hosting a server on your personal internet that other people use, sometimes you have a spike in usage by someone else and it causes some lag. Here is a Speedtest of the server.
