Eqemu Developer appreciation pledge

So I would like to give something back to the eqemu developer community who has helped many projects so much over the years and never asked for a dime. In order to pull that off I have launched a gofundme campaign to raise funds to be able to give them a nice donation. All pledges made to this campaign will be awarded with credits on my server (raid addicts) just like if you were donating to the server. Except all of these proceeds go directly to the eqemu developers.

If other server ops would like to pitch in and support this that would be great , you can do so by a pledge or offering up donation perks for those who pledge on your servers. Just PM me and we can work out the details with that.

I've gone ahead and revised my initial approach and the link check it here: https://www.gofundme.com/eqemu

Props for trying but yeah

We may not reach the $3000 goal for this, but there has been 6 donations so far and every little bit helps , with Gofundme, you don't have to reach the goal in order for the owners of eqemu to withdraw the funds out at any point. I have authorized them to do this and sent them withdraw rights invitation etc.

Anyway anything you guys can give is greatly appreciated , after all this community wouldn't be nearly as popular without these people working on it, obviously it's a labor of love for them however I want to give more.

I'll be kicking a few bucks in when I get paid at the end of month. This is a good idea.
I will get this quest posted on my server website :)

After edit: I put a link to this thread on both website and forums (mine)

Nice thanks :)

Mortykins 10-21-2016 09:36 PM

Just over 10% of the way to our goal , thanks everyone for the support!

Hey folks, so the support thus far has been fantastic we have raised almost $500 for the developers, I have given only ONE person full access on the developer team to withdraw these funds currently.

Hopefully this will start to be utilized soon with a "Bounty System" to accomplish huge tedious tasks which will greatly benefit all servers in eqemu.

We ask that people keep sending in what they can until the final goal of $3000 is met in order for the eqemu developers to begin that process.

The double bonus is still active until this has been completed on Raid Addicts and again I ask that other server ops pitch in as well to allow for the players on their servers to contribute for perks. (Not sure how other servers handle donations so maybe this is asking a lot, if so apologies)

Just an update:

We have raised $500 , and at this point the eqemu developers have decided to allocate that first $500 to the new EQEMu Wiki project which is being worked on currently. They have spoke to me about this and it seemed like a great project to designate the funds toward since it will be helping to bring in new people to the community.

Raised $640 , sent $500 too the Devs to be used as they see fit.. Gofundme takes about 10% which was annoying but I went ahead and put in some of my own money to ensure they get every penny.. I am asking for permission to create some EQEMU T-Shirts from the developers utilizing the banner on top of the forums for the back and the Eqemu logo for the front of the shirt.

This will be sent to people who pledge over $100 to this cause which we have a few so far.

Gofundme for the EQEMU developers has raised $810 so far, which I have sent to the Eqemu Developer lead Akkadius .. Most of these pledges have been given by players on my server Raid Addicts, but really hoping that others in the community send in pledges to support what the Eqemu Devs are making possible for us here. Any amount is greatly appreciated folks, hope everyone has a great weekend!

This is an excellent idea!

I wish there was an avenue like this that we as players could fund a server long after the original devs were able to invest their time. If someone had put up a gofundme for Kildrukans Prophecy serve I would have whipped out the credit card and paid whatever Ransome they asked.

Mortykins 12-17-2016 05:38 PM

Hehe, well the idea behind this isn't for SERVER operator / developers this is for the Eqemu developers, the guys and gals who create the binaries and maintain the website etc. So far we have raised $1,093 for them but most of those pledges have come from players on Raid Addicts. At any rate hopefully these funds go toward improvements and advancements for all servers in the community.

Mortykins 07-17-2017 04:02 AM

Ok folks, kind of bumping this one because I would like to continue to raise funds for the developers! I have recently added several dollars of my own to this pot and would like to continue to have folks in the community who aren't Raid Addicts members contribute if possible.

Very Happy to be a part of this community

Just as the Welcome message states, many developers putting their great skills into providing the code/resources
for these servers to be created, giving opportunity for many players to have some "non-commercialized" fun.
One can freely assume the developers are NOT doing all this because they think they owe anyone anything.

Not really sure where you are going here, but if this was just a thank you post, would you be saying the same thing? "We don't need to thank the devs, they do this for free and spend their time and resources, why should I give up any of mine"? If KingMort wants to do something that appreciates active developers then power to him, you can support him or not.

In my personal opinion and it was mentioned before this creating an incentive could be good for bounty based projects. There are some things in eqemu people just DO NOT WANT to work on.. incentives could change that.

I am so sorry for the way this may of been interpreted, but please, no, this really was to help support Mort's post.
It was not a "thank you" post, just simply to support the fact that the eqemu devs do put a lot into this project.
Some people may not understand that.
