New EQG Zone
Hi guys,
I want to start generating new zones and playing in them but might be missing a few steps. If the only way to do this is to overwrite a current zone let me know but if we can use new EQGs that would be best. 1 So my process was basically follow the Open Zone Wiki until it made me name it load in which case I just named it starter. 2 I then took Zaela's converter and converted the S3D into an EQG and then cut pasted it into the Client directory. 3 Added a line into the zone table called it starter id 500 longname also starter 4 loaded the server up tried zoning in and nothing. The zone does show up on #findzone Any ideas what I messed up? I poked around the source code and didnt see a giant list of zones or anything /shrug |
The EQ client does have a hard-coded list of zone id numbers and nicknames, so you'll have to use one of the existing nicknames. The client looks for a ZoneNick.eqg file first, and if it doesn't find that, a ZoneNick.s3d file.
I made a tool that extracts this list and some additional info about the zones. You can see the resulting data for the RoF client here: http://www.shendare.com/EQ/Emu/EQRI/RoF2_EQZones.htm |

Huh. My RoF2 install doesn't have a crafthalls_chr.txt. Or crafthalls*.* anything.

crafthalls is a beta zone and is not included with the standard zone files.
