Private server on laptop?

I am looking to set up a mobile private server if it is possible. I travel to remote locations and connecting to live is not always practical. Is it possible to setup a server on a laptop running windows 10 and play from the same machine? I am not even close to a pc expert so this will be a difficult task.

I would love to have my own solo friendly server to run a group on and be able to do all the raids single group.

Yes, it's very possible to do. For starters, I'd suggest downloading Akkadius Installer from https://github.com/EQEmu/Server/wiki

In order to do raid content with a single group, you will have to make some tweaks though.

Those settings should work for a 'localhost' server.

(Just be sure to change the name...)

I personally run my server off my laptop and i've got it loading 50 zones atm and can handle around 50 people online at once. The laptops an old single core 3gb ram 5400rpm hdd. The server doesn't really require anything huge to run. So playing the game on the same machine should work pretty good.

I think it was on the old wiki, where Akkadius was making reference to how little it takes to run one of these servers, (If I am quoting him correctly), "it can run on a toaster..."
