Here are some rules and guidelines to follow while using these forums. If you are considering something not listed here that might be questionable, please use common sense! Keep in mind that these forums are primarily here for EQEmu related support and development.

1. No Warez! This rule is VERY important! Posting warez of any kind are immediate grounds for banning from this site. This includes the transfer of any copyrighted material, including EQ Files, back-patches and links to sites containing such files. Requesting files, even in a PM, will result in a ban. Don't even discuss illegal files here. Some .txt files may be acceptable if they are easily reproduce-able.

2. Be nice! There is no need for flaming/bashing, name-calling, disrespect, or blatant disregard to someone else's feelings. Drama of any type is not allowed and will not be tolerated on these forums. This also includes bashing of choice of Operating System, PC Specs, Tools, etc. There can be a fine line between Debate and Flaming/Bashing sometimes. Make sure not to cross that line while discussing a topic.

3. Don't spam! Do not post the same thing in multiple threads. Do not start multiple threads about the same topic. If the Login Server is down and you see 4 threads that are called "Can't Log In", read them first. Don't make another one! It is still ok to reply in one of the existing threads.

4. No Advertising! Mentioning something you think is cool is fine, but no blatant advertising. Anything that is not directly affiliated with EQEmu should be discussed in the Off-Topic Section ONLY! It is acceptable to create a single thread in the General Server Discussion Section to advertise for your EQEmu server. Please do not bump Server advertisement threads just to bump them. If you want to bump a Server thread, please do so by providing an update about the server.

5. Swearing. Swearing is allowed to an extent. Don't overdo it. Racism will NOT be tolerated!

6. No Server Bashing! The bashing of any server is grounds for a ban. Discussing issues with a server by stating facts can be done without being considered as a "bashing".

7. No Personal Information. Do not post someone else's personal information without direct approval from them first. This includes Real Name, Address, Email Address, etc. Breaking this rule will result in an immediate ban. Posting your own personal information is perfectly fine.

8. Avatar Restrictions. Avatar images may not exceed 150x150 and 30kb in size, and signatures may not exceed 6 lines of standard text on 1024x768 and 32kb in size.

9. Don't Derail Threads! If at all possible, try to remain on-topic when posting in a thread.

10. Post in the Appropriate Section. Please use logic to find the most appropriate section for your post. If you are unsure, post it in the best fit and it will be moved if needed.

11. Listen to the EQEmu Team! If you are asked to stop doing something by one of the team members of EQEmu, please stop doing it. If you think their request is unreasonable, please contact one of the Administrators and wait for them to respond before repeating the action.

12. Do not ban evade! Trying to evade a ban by registering a new account and posting with it will get all of your known accounts permanently banned.

13. Do not badmouth the EQEmu Code, Login Server, Team or Project in general. If you have an issue with any of these, feel free to discuss it. If you only contribute negativity to the solution, then you are part of the problem. Constructive criticism is great, but there is no need for sarcasm and criticism that is not constructive.

14. No Macroquest! Discussing the use or installation of Macroquest can result in an account ban. The discussion of any other 3rd party hacks/apps (ShowEQ, MySEQ, Etc) that may do anything that is even remotely considered cheating will result in a warning and possible ban, unless the discussion is purely EQEmu development related and does not include instructions to get or install said hacks. Don't post or pm links about emulator usable Macroquest or you will be banned EQEmu-Wide. You also risk being banned for using it on servers that do not specifically allow it (This is up to the Server Admins).

The main idea here is to have respectful members of this community. Breaking any of these rules will most likely result in a warning at the very least, up to a permanent account ban depending on the severity of the offense.
