it gives me the You cannot combine these items in this container type message.

Container being "Gem Encrusted Mail Kit"

I deleted the mail kit, and got a fresh one from the quest giver(Salinsa Delfdosan) in north Freeport just in the courtyard of the cleric guild.

I will try with more recipes as I get the items.
