Default howto create a server emulator ?

Well, i dont know if i'm in the right forum, but this one is about general discussions related to eqemu. And server emulators are related to :p

I'm going to see if it is possible to create a server emulator for another mmorpg : swg.
To do so, i would like to know what have been done at the beginning of the developpement of EQEmu. If you have some links related to my topic (swg emulator, or resources on server emulator developpement), i'm interested in.

As long as people do this while I'm at work, I'm a happy pig farmer.

But I don't like moderating stupid crap in my free time. >:(
