Do certain races get exp penalties like old times, example being half-elfs being slow levelers? Awesome work by the way and I cant wait to play.

Good. I'm glad things will be as difficult, or "classic" as they once were. No 2x exp, no porters or soulbinders indeed. If you really want these things, go play somewhere else - there's lots of servers with custom rulesets.

Hopefully the need to 2box never arises...

Ooooh. My fingers are twitching and this time not from RSI. That is one server that could lure me out of hiding.

Well, if I only could remember one of my login passwords ...

Good luck guys, It isn't a classic client, but it's the classic content, which is probably the next best thing. Best of luck on your server!

This is exactly what I was looking for when I joined the EQEmulator community, and as soon as I heard about it I began beta testing for it. I'm very happy to see it finally being released, and it seems a lot of other people are to.

Cheers!

Yes, racial and class based experience penalties will be in place (as far as I know). Personally, I have argued against keeping class based penalties but for keeping racial penalties, but I haven't heard any change in policy yet.

If I remember correctly, half elves have no inherent penalty or bonus. Halflings get a small bonus, ogres trolls and iksar get a large penalty.

As far as penalties are concerned, I responded in the other thread but not this one.

Here's a copy of the information

Code:
29 //experience modifiers based on race and class, used if USE_RACE_CLASS_XP_MODS is defined
30 // hum bar eru elf hie def hef dwa tro ogr hal gno iks, vah frog
   31 float race_modifiers[15] = { 100.0f, 105.0f, 100.0f, 100.0f, 100.0f, 100.0f, 100.0f, 100.0f, 120.0f, 115.0f, 95.0f, 100.0f, 120.0f, 100.0f, 100.0f}; // Quagmire - Guessed on iks and vah
   32
33 // war cle pal ran shd dru mnk brd rog shm nec wiz mag enc bst bes
   34 float class_modifiers[16] = { 9.0f, 10.0f, 14.0f, 14.0f, 14.0f, 10.0f, 12.0f, 14.0f, 9.05f, 10.0f, 11.0f, 11.0f, 11.0f, 11.0f, 10.0f, 10.0f};
legend: if smaller numbers are faster exp, then halfling warrior is fastest!

Rangers being heavily penalized when they're already the worst class makes zero sense (and Sony eventually admitted this).

But hey, Classic = Perfect right?

Sucks to be rangers in the story of classic. :(

Classic isn't perfect. It did, however, provide the fun and footwork necessary for sony to still be leeching money, 16 expansions later.

Yes I do hope that you guys still try to keep a sense of balance, even though you want it to be 'classic'. Don't think 'classic' was the end all/be all of Everquest - the game is far from perfect, just don't let the quest for 100% classic destroy the fun for certain players.

edit: *cough* bards/rangers
