Default Severe Server Lag

Hello all,

So i had a windows server running on a old pc with a old hdd only problem was when i zoned 30 toons at once half would log out. So i upgraded to 2 ssds in raid mirror,32gig ram and a i7 processor. Not top of the line stuff but i was hoping for a improvement. Now I am experiencing lag whenever i get 20+ toons in same zone. I tried fetching new dlls and latest unstable update with no change. I setup a brand new server with windows installer today to see if it was my old server backup messing up the database but still the same result.

Any ideas what i can do to fix this? I never had the zone lag before just problems zoning. I thought upgrading ancient hdd to ssd would fix that but need to get past this 23,000ms first.

Can you check and report the date-stamp on your zlib1.dll file in your server's main directory?

Hmm... Not quite what I was looking for.

Try the size. It should be a 496KB file.

I'm not really sure what's going on there...

A couple of the devs figured out what the problem was and corrected it some time ago.

The latest changes in the installer setup should have corrected that issue.

I just had verification from another individual today that the newest bins did correct it on his system.

I tried a fresh install using akkas installer. it hangs on database up to date part of install and i have to restart it. not sure if that would cause any issues. I reimaged to windows server 2012 r2 and tried again with same lag results after 20-25 toons in same zone. Tried latest stable and unstable updates and ran the fetch_dlls. No idea what else i can try.

Try this...

After updating your binaries, download the dlls again.

I ran across an issue using vcpkg that is probably reverting the current zlib1.dll.

It's hard to piece together exactly what is going on in your case..but, we have to start somewhere

Glad you got that worked out!

Trouble-shooting issues like this is extremely difficult due to that very reason.

There are tons of variables to consider and usually very little access to the components needed to trace the cause.
