You don't want player-base rocketing through to endgame too fast having left for want on accomplishment. This is not to say "slow exp" but make sure you lock each tier of progression firmly and tight.

A great example of progression is zippzipp. His sever is well planed and implemented. If you choose to go that route then the next question is "box or bot". If bot, then you'll have to do better than zippzipp.
Many people liked KP Emu, the server crumbled under it's own weight. We seem to have absorbed a lot of it's players lately.

Yeah, it's almost like a real company. Too fast growth can be more dangerous than no growth at all.
