Default Issues with OZ

I've downloaded the openzone files as well as all the textures. I have tried attempting the tutorial, but for some reason, the ground plane stays completely clear.

I've browsed and haven't found any similar problems. I assume all I need is openzone, unless i'm mistaken and need 3rd party software.

is it simply clear within OZ or also when u compile to zone? ive noticed that with more powerful machines sometimes the program has flicker issues with objects. However, this doesnt mean that those objects will not compile correctly, or display within EQ correctly. On my current computer (core I7, 12 gigs ram, dual 4870s) i have the flicker issue, but the zones do come out correctly.

is your server machine a single core machine, and ur modeling machine multi?

I think the multi-core machines have issues with OZ. Also, are u running XP, Vista, or 7?

I can't even compile zones under Windows 7 64bit. I have a 3gz 3gb ram dell with Windows xp 32bit edition that I am going to use for my zone creation soon.

I'm having various issues with it as well. Win7 64bit. I can make the "terrain" but if I save and reload the file, all I get is an emptiness. If I load the provided tutorial_1 files and such I actually see the right thing. Then when I close down it crashes. So the binary isn't happy on Win7, from reading posts it seems like WinXP is what it was originally developed for.

Wanted to add this version 7.4:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/eqem...4.zip/download

seems to be working better so far.

I built a second machine that runs 32bit Win XP Pro just for this purpose. It has all of software (ZBrush, PShopcs5, 3ds max, milkshape, blender, etc).
