Default Ever-WoW, Everquest Remade

As fellow EQ veterans and lovers, new and old - I would like to reach out to you and share something I am very passionate about. I am not here for your money, or to spam you. But I think some of you might just love this idea.

Welcome to Ever-WoW, BETA


First, let me introduce you to the concept and the reason behind the name, then I'll get into some juicy specifics.

Ever-WoW is a merger of some of the best elements of the Everquest Genre, as well as World of Warcraft. What does that mean? Well. In Everquest - as crappy as the graphics and combat system were, you had some very challenging content - Quests that took weeks or months to complete, Raids that took you to the very home dimensions of the gods themselves. And even an Epic questline for each class. Everquest players are die-hard fans of the hard.

World of Warcraft revolutionized the gaming industry with unique graphics, high quality consistent work, and a seamless world that really took things up a notch, no more 'loading times' that sometimes took 2-3 minutes or longer. No more crappy graphics and swinging a sword at monsters that are technically behind you.

As a long-time gamer and huge fan of both games, I wanted to merge my favorite elements into one game. We took WoWs engine and story, and added content borrowed from Everquest to create a unique world thats better than both. This is where it begins.

Some things to catch you attention.

*Casual players are welcome and are not punished, We will encourage pvp, casual playing, blizz-like activity and general enjoyment of a free server.

*Hardcore lovers and Ex EQ fans will find many above-and-beyond challenges awaiting them, such as Hardcore raids - Thought Cazic Thule, God of Fear was hard before? You haven't seen our Plane of Fear! Feeling Nostalgic about that first Epic back when they were still a good item? We are starting in vanilla wow, lvl 60 cap, and plan to progress and open content over time. You'll have time to earn and enjoy your first epic - and when the expansion opens up, it will be a requirement to earning the next 'tier' of epics. Be ready for a grueling quest to win these legendary items.

Want to PVP? We have lots of nifty new things that might just mix it up a bit and change the scape of PVP from what you are used to.

Some other things we plan to play with, if possible.

Custom classes, such as the Necromancer.
All new custom raid zones, Visit the planes, fight the gods themselves.
active content creation team, we are always looking for ways to add in more variety and fun.

Theres so much more we haven't even scratched the surface with this post. This is a passion, and we intend that it reflects in the work we do in creating Ever-WoW. We hope you enjoy.

out of curiosity....will the be AA? or talent trees like wow? i only ask because i hate what they did to them in cata.
also since theres custom classes (necro) what about races?
sounds awesome tho, ill have to check it out

That's a limitation of EQEmu (which I'm working on fixing), not live. Also, your last thread was moved to off topic, since this is off topic.

There will be AA i think, its in the plans. There will still be talents. Custom races and classes are possible but it will be awhile those are hard to do.

I havent played EQemu in years, and I dont think I've ever been to hate on EMU

I raided with my own guild on GPG, I was banned there for taking too many raid targets. I guess its a socialist server.

Cannot connect with unmodified SoF or UF client.

My family and I would be interested in such a project (in fact we've tried to create one before in 2009), we see a lot of areas where EQ could be improved with simple database corrections to cast-times and re-cast times, meaningful +Stat bonuses (instead of custom gear), and an expanded and wider set of creation options and tradeskills.

"Any race, Any class, All tradeskills"

We also went the other way, trying to dissect ArcEmu and Trinitycore engines to allow "AR/AC/ATS" but especially with TC2, the need for opposing factions is built into the game and databases; there's no real way to make an Orc un-KoS in Stormwind (for example), nor any good way to integrate EQ names or places into the canned areas and triggers of the WoW clients.

EQ1 can still be hella fun, please look into support for latest clients for your server, and keep up your valiant effort.

i do not intend to recreate the EQ game in wows engine, not entirely. I realize that is too big a task for me -

But i do intend to re-create certain areas, including the planes of power expansion. Completely as is possible.

Making Orc not KoS in Stormwind is actually extremely simple. Doesn't really require any work at all. Integrating EQ Names would be easy also. Integrating the places themselves, though, would be a ton of work and rather extremely time-consuming. People would also have to be willing to download possibly large files from you, depending on where you go with it exactly.

In my grandest plans/best case scenario, ill only be recreating 20-30 zones of everquest, mostly the Planes themselves.

I never intended to try and rebuild the world itself, I just want to bring some of the EQ content over, and the lore. And things like AA's, Planes, etc.


its really a hassle to create a custom zone and script things, those are beyond my modest abilities and I am relying on volunteers which are generally teenagers who just happen to be geniuses at emulation. Id love to find a steady full time dev even if it required some pay.

But progress is still being made, There are many areas of wow that are currently unused that work well for some of the areas i needed to build, at least temporarily.

Lower guk and Crushbone both turned out pretty well, I think
