Default String Not Found?

I gots a friend that is trying to get this to work so he can connect to my server, however he seems to never be able to get the thing running... having set it up on 3 boxes at my own house, and aided it on 2 other friend's boxes i went over his house to tweak it until it worked....

3 times over and close to 12 hours of tweaking later, he can finally get in and get to the server select screen (never used spybot or adaware or anything... that was the major problem lol)

Anyways, here's the problem... now everytime he gets to the login server (he tells me i have yet to go over for a 4th time) it says "string not found" in the place where it says if the server is up or down... he still has the correct list of servers so he's getting to the login server, but something about it isn't working... This is a problem i have yet to encounter and was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts they could toss me for the next time i go over... Normally i'd just say reinstal everquest (i'm getting the feeling that his box got whacked hard when all his viruses and spyware was removed... maybe something in the registry got hacked up and now EQ is missing random peices...) but he's on a dialup modem and only has to Yak on cd.... making it take litterally 40+ hours of patching to patch to live... so tryin to avoid that if possible...

So if anyone has any ideas lemme know... otherwise it's time to go whack his box hard with a really big stick and see what happens

Thanks
