Default Graphics Enhancements

I remember there was a website that had enhanced textures for EQ, are there any other enhancements out there ?

Actually my post was way too broad. What I am curious about is since I have not played EQ live in like maybe 10 years, have they done new textures for the old zones ? I know they had updated humans on test a few years ago...

Can you update to live and copy those new textures over to our client ?

They did update textures to higher resolution versions for most zones several years ago. These are the textures seen when you have your Texture Quality client option set to High (Options button off the main EQ startup screen, not the in-game options window).

Beyond that and new model releases (Luclin player races, DoD orcs and goblins, etc.), the only updates I am aware of are the new versions of zones that were released after Titanium and are available in SoF.

I was actually referring to this place, they had new textures for every EQ zone, at least the old world stuff. Actually made a difference....unfortunately like other websites it is gone.

And here was the thread.

These are the same retextured files you get from running the patcher.

Confirmed by zoning in with originals and zoning out, loading modified guktop files, and zoning back in.

I wonder if we would be able to update the graphics through the launcher without patching the game? If not, it would be great if someone had a link to the full set.

You can download whatever you need from Sony without using the patcher. Obtaining the files via other means such as this is not allowed to be discussed on these boards though. Also, if you're using the Titanium CDs or SoF dvd, the retextured zone files are already included in that I believe.

I know with Titanium it is not, I could tell the difference when I added them. If this cannot be discussed then we should drop the subject though.

These are indeed the same files you get off the SoF DVDs and the EQ patcher.

File comparisons on all files to the same files in SoF resulted in the same verdict:

Code:
FC: no differences encountered
Titanium files indeed do differ, however, so the upgraded textures were released somewhere between the two.

The retextured zone files were from years ago. They've been on the patcher forever. Even before OoW.

They probably first released them on hard copy via the SoF dvd because they didn't have enough room on regular CD releases to include all of those other zones.

Perhaps, though it doesn't seem to make sense that they would include files on the Titanium discs that they already have newer versions of that would have to be overwritten via download before the player could play the game anyway. *shrug*

Not that SOE is bound by such mundane things as logic, of course. LOL.
