Default vwbotcharactermobs

Hello!

I recently set up a server on a Windows 7 box and managed (with my pathetic knowledge of SQL and your wonderful guide) to get it to work, mostly.

I also have a Dell server running 2008 Server and used the "source C:\EQ\peq_backup.sql" to source the backup file in so I didn't have to redo everything from scratch.

I finally got it working after getting the correct pearl as well as this trick....

#Note to peeps running 2008 Server - I kept receiving the error:
MSVCR110.DLL is missing

No matter what versions of Visual C++ I tried I still got that error. I finally ended up downloading the single MSVCR110.DLL file and placed it in the
c:\EQ\EQEMUSERVER\ directory.

This seemed to have worked, and the server is up and running.

Now to my problem:

When I compiled the PEQ database on the Win7 box I went ahead and sourced in both the LOAD_BOT.SQL and the MERC.SQL.

On both the Win7 server box and the 2008 Server box I can not get the Mercenaries working. They are there, they just don't respond to me in any way.

Both receive the error when the server loads of:

[MySQL Error] 1146: table 'peq.vwbotcharactermobs' doesn't exist

I did all the research my pathetic brain can do on the matter to no avail.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on what I should look into next? (use small words please).
Do you think that this error is causing my Mercs to /ignore me?

Thanks All!
Wade

What directory did you get the sql files from? I didn't think that MERC.SQL was currently being used.

That LOAD_BOTS.sql may be old too if you got it from the wrong place.

Irc, I think there's only a merchant type change that needs to occur. I thought that we had a thread somewhere that discusses it..but, can't
seem to quickly find it atm...

EDIT: http://wiki.eqemulator.org/p?Enabling_Mercenaries

Post back if enabling doesn't work.

EDIT2: LOAD_BOTS.SQL is not required for mercs to function. Also, bots are currently not up to date and probably won't operate correctly
using the provided load script.

Some people have posted some fixes in regards to the issues..but, the whole system needs to be gone through.

First, thanks a bunch for the reply.

I followed the Complete Windows-based Server Setup Guide (Windows 7+) line for line, as far as I know of.

So I guess the LOAD_BOTS.SQL and the MERCS.SQL came from:

c:\EQ\Source\utils\sql\svn

In the guide there's a line that reads "(OPTIONAL) If you plan on using mercenaries, follow this seperate guide located here."

http://wiki.eqemulator.org/p?Enabling_Mercenaries

Again, I pretty much went step by step. I am lost when it comes to databases and SQL, but I'm pretty good at following instructions =)

As a whole, the server is running really well. In fact, me and the wife have been having a blast playing with it/on it.

It's the "Texantonica" server if that helps.

That's definitely an out-of-date reference. The SVN repository hasn't been used in probably two years now..though, the file name
doesn't seem to match that location.

If you did grab them from the '\..\sql\git' sub-directory, or even the peq database zip, I think you'll be ok.

If not, you can try running the 'drop_bots.sql' from either location.

Assuming that you do want to have bots enabled, just ensure that grab the load_bots from the git or peq folders.

Let me check on the mercenaries..I've only had them enabled a couple of times for testing purposes. (Pretty sure I had to
change a merchant type..anyone?)

You need to change all the 'Mercenary Liaison' NPCs to class 71.

Also, some of the ones outside of PoK are not set up at all, and wont work without a lot of additional changes.

AH! I will try that!

Last night I redid everything from top to bottom (probably should do it a few more times just to get good and familiar with it).

This time I didn't source anything to do with BOTS but I did source in the Mercs.sql. When I got finished I had the exact same problem of the Mercenaries not responding to me.

The class ID thing makes total sense.

Thanks for the help! I can not wait to get in and try it.

Like McDowell I am having issues with Mercs and other tables in the database. I think it is due to using the out of date files from c:\EQ\Source\utils\sql\svn.

Can someone tell me where to point Git to to receive files in my "\..\sql\git" folder. I do not have anything in that folder in my setup.

https://github.com/EQEmu/Server/tree.../utils/sql/git

Not sure why that folder would be empty...
