Default 1017 connection after login to private server

Created a new eqemu server this weekend. I downloaded what was the latest, hopefully they are compatible.
EQEmu-Rev1316-Bots.rar
peqquests-Rev1535
peqdatabase-Rev1549

I successfully installed a EQEMU server using the following wiki link.
http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=Windows
(Thanks to RedDoggit)
However I wanted to use the server over the internet so my friends could play and it seems that minilogin is not really meant for that.
To that end I wanted to use eqemulogin.exe as shown by this link.
http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=ValesEQ
(Thanks to ValesEQ) The example shows how to use the eqemulogin.exe instead of minilogin which is what I wanted.
I tested my EQ titanium install before starting and was able to connect to eqemulator.net without a hitch so my client side should be fine.

Here is the problem. I get passed the login screen and can see see my listed server with a status of OK but when I choose the Play Now button the game does not launch. The screen seems dormant and then later comes up with a 1017 connection error.

One the server side the 3 session windows seem to launch fine and I cannot find any meaningful errors in the logs other than minor things like eqtime.cfg not loading or some zones already loaded in memory.
I would appreciate any assistance that can be offered. I am installing the server on a virtual XP box at my office, it has 1 virtual nic with the IP 192.168.99.208 . I have configure DNS internally to resolve my domain name to its internal IP address. I have no firewall software running on the box.
Since I get past the login screen and see the server I created the eqhosts file must be resolving fine.

Here are my two configuration files with dummy details for privacy

Eqemulogin.ini

Switched to using the privatelogin.exe and that worked.
My next two issues are:
1) After I login with my character successfuly, he has no starting weapon or spells (druid) and all the vendors have no items for sale.
2) What ports should I open on the firewall that is hosting my eq server for inbound?
Thanks again.

the issue with the items is wrong DB version for the Server version your using. You probably need a newer server version.

Thanks for responding.

Using the guides I thought they took me to the most recent and the database was downloaded with svn.
These are the versions installed.
EQEmu-Rev1316-Bots.rar
peqquests-Rev1535
peqdatabase-Rev1549

Any idea where to get newer db or do i need to downgrade my engine?
