Default Can't cast spells

EQEmu 0.6.1-DR1

Well not entirely accurate. I can cast on myself but when trying to cast on mobs either at a distance or while meleeing, I get "You cannot see your target". Even when using the #cast method. I explored nearly every populated zone and tried it on every mob type i can think of (including PoK hehe)

I thought someone may have seen this before but the only thing searching came up with is melee distance (which is something I learned to live with)

I'm still combing through the database and trying to assertain wether its a database problem or EQEmu problem. I'm using the database that was put up here:

http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/showthread.php?t=18564

So far, it's the only DB I can get to work with 6.1

I believe this is due to the maps folder needed in your eqemu folder , they have something to do with line of sight , I am using the same database and have maps folder loaded with the maps that you can download from sourceforge, everyzone works ok except for a zone (Nektropos) that I made by hand and have no map for , in that zone we get the problem you are describing

ok thanks. i'll give that a shot. i thought the map files were just for zoning points which i can deal with. and it is a LOS issue. i don't even have LOS on myself lol. i can buff myself but can't use any damaging spells on myself.

thanks again

so i save these files in my eqemu\maps folder? any special config?

Adding the maps to the map directory is what solved that problem for me. Took a few days to figure it out. happened to be watching the world.exe window one day and saw it say that I .map file was missing. went searching and found on sourceforge a 308mb file to add to the maps directory. That fixed my LOS problem, but I still get the occasional error saying that a .path file is missing not sure what they are or how to find them thou stilllooking for them.

looks like the wrong spells_us.txt and spells_en.txt in your EQ or Emu folder , not sure though .

I get those errors on some of my spells and buffs too. All i can guess is as well is it's the wrong spells txt file. I looked at one in the spell editor and it has about 10 CHA effects and unknown junk in the data fields. I'm leaving them be for now until the spell editor is more stable. or unless there will be a current live eqemu soon

Oh and BTW, thanks for the maps tips guys. that was the problem. apparently they fix aggro too since it's now working properly as well. a few aren't aggroing as they should but fixing them as i go
