Default 20fps ... please help

current specs:
Windows 10
5950x cpu
6900xt nitro + sapphire edition
64gb of ram

Running RoF2 EQ

My issue is that when i log into the game my fps is total crap. 20fps while looking down in first person but when looking straight ahead im at 5 or less fps.

I've set affinity to 0 CPU only
I've set priority to high
I've changed the compatibility mode between XP / 7 / Vista

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

well, i give up... i tried almost everything in the dual / quad core sticky of this section and i would've posted this there if it wasn't locked.

I'm not good enough to make any kind of bios changes like setting the cpu to 200 or w/e that guy was talking about, it was way over my head.

I'll keep an eye on this post if anyone has anything i can try to fix the fps issue, i'd really appreciate the help.

Newer AMD graphics cards completely lack hardware support for DX9 and that has been causing major issues for those owners and legacy games. I am betting that is your issue.

after your post i did some diggin on this particular part. I downloaded dx9 redist, visual c++ 2010 and .net framework for 2010.

I couldn't find anything saying newer gpus lack hardware support for dx9.. then again it could just be my lack of google fu.

I'm having a really hard time coming to terms with any reason why a 25y/o game can't be played on a machine built by todays components :(

Yea, There is no hardware support for DX9 in 6000+ series AMD cards. They use some emulation on the driver level to allow some level of functionality to still exist, but it is not performant.

Some discussions talk about disabling SMART ACCESS MEMORY : https://community.amd.com/t5/general...-s/td-p/615342

Nope, disabling SAM didn't work at all and i am still having the same issue. After reading some into the second to last link you posted. There's a twitter post from a guy named Terry Makedon saying and "Happy 2018 everyone!! I am seeing some stories pop up about AMD not supporting some old games. That is absolutely not true, we are identifying the bug and working on a fix asap. C&C, Witcher, BfME, etc will be working again."

This being 5 years ago though, so who knows what's going on. I wonder if i put in a ticket to the AMD team if they'll respond with a way to make it run better or just ignore me... worth a shot, so i'll ask them if they know a "work around"...hehe

After seeing this I start searching around and found a couple of things.

I have never used either of those before but it may be worth checking into.
