Zone Crashing

I finally got a new server up and running for me and some friends but I am having a crash issue... I am summoning items for equipment and when I click them into inventory the zone crashes.. Here is a crash dump

Anyone have any ideas why the zone / server is crashing anytime I interact with inventory items??

Even if I buy a water and ration from a vendor the moment I click the item in inventory the zone / server crashes... When I log back in the item I clicked on has vanished..

Did you enable bots in CMake and not source in the database tables?

..it looks like KLS committed a fix for EntityList::MobInZone() about an hour or so before you posted the first message.


If your local repository is prior to rev d1ecb32 (commit 850?) on 4/4/2014 @ 3:27:18 pm, try updating and recompiling to the latest code.

I had thought maybe it was something to do with my client but I tried the Titanium and Underfoot client and both did it. I also had a backed up version of the server files that was about a year old. I tried using the older server files with the latest database and it still did the same thing. From that I can only assume it is the database.

I just hosed the database about an hour ago and recreated it from scratch... So far it is not crashing. I am trying to make a single change at a time and waiting for it to crash... One thing that may have caused it (which I will test in a while) is I set the FVNodrop to allow anyone with high enough access to bypass the nodrop flags... I am beginning to suspect that may have been the cause... I will test it later tonight and post back the results..

I will also try recompiling with the latest code and see if that changes things..

As Uleat said it was an issue with source code. IE the server application. There was a recent rework in how entities are handled in the source and this crash is a specific situation where a quest timer is not terminated properly when that entity or npc depops.

Just make sure your source is up to date, this issue was fixed

Now that I actually look at the stack trace it looks like it has to so bot related entity code. You must have depopped a bot in your group it looks like. Someone will probably have to make sure the last fix covered this. I've been on my phone

I tested it and it has to do with the FVNoDrop setting. If I enable FVNodrop and set it to 2 it will crash everytime when interacting with anything in inventory (includes equipped items)... When you log back in the item you interacted with has vanished..

It doesn't seem to matter if the item is no drop or not. It will still crash.

This issue has come up before..I thought it sounded familiar :P


If you were world-kicked and the item deleted, as per the code snippet in that post..the bug we mentioned earlier may have kicked in
and actually crashed zone since you were no longer there and something tried to access you. (That's what the patch fixed.)

As to whether it works correctly..I didn't have any issues in UF with that setting. You may try contacting the individual in that post,
if they're still around, to see if that action truly did fix his issue.
