Default Dungeon Crawl

Excellent server. It's recently been wiped and now there is a no boxing rule. Growing population by the day. Lots of changes have been implemented over the course of this servers life span. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable experience. The developers are friendly and always adding new content.

For anyone that doesn't know.

The server has a classic kind of feel to it. You don't start with gear or have any gear vendors. No plane of knowledge. However there are soulbinders that once you hail them, you can port from one soulbinder to the next.

Stats are quite important here. Each stat greatly improves different functions in the game. For instance Dex helps to reduce spell casts and greatly improves archery, throwing and backstab damage. For Wis casters it increases their healing and spell dmg. For Int casters same thing. Charisma increases pet strength. Agility adds innate haste and increases dodge. You can see more about the stats on the forums here: http://dungeoncrawl.us.to/eq/forums/...c.php?f=8&t=63

Every mob in the game has a very small chance to drop a random item scaled by the mobs level. As well as all named mobs have been tagged with tier numbers (1-10). The named mob drops its original loot plus random items based on its tier number.

Lots of updated quest items that have had their stats improved. As well as many zones have had their loot upgraded. Such as warrens, runnyeye, blackburrow, crushbone, dragon necropolis, ToV, and many more.

Hope to see more new people logging in soon.

Interesting. I played on Furniture's Vengful server and his stat approach seemed to work well.

But what does some of this mean, like:

Throwing

Monk / Beastlord
Large Races
+Str
+Sta
-Dex
Regular Races
+Dex
-Str
-Sta

I don't understand this. Do Str and Sta add to throwing damage, but Dex decreases it? Does throwing increast str and sta but decrease dex?

What exactly does this mean?

Plus I'm the kind of guy that needs some numbers attached to this, because I like to optimize, and because I really have no desire to try and level a character to find out that every 100 str adds one to melee damage swings. Nice, but that isn't going to help you soloing much.

Looks like it means large races use str and sta for throwing. While the rest use dex.

Yes its different based on race. The - marks means it is a minor increase, the + adds major increase. I don't know the exact numbers. I'm not a developer on the server. Just a player, but the server has been around for a while now. It's been up for over a year. However many changes have been made. Come check it out.

The specific stat contributions can shift a little from time to time. We went from flat bonuses to biases based on class, race, and sometimes equipment configuration. The forum guide is still generally accurate but it's a work in progress and does change now and then. In any case, the effects are significant.

I started tinkering with a simple player guide several months ago and got distracted. It's pretty basic, but should provide most of the information a person would need to get started.

I don't look at the server as a product so much as a project, but so long as Akkadius is kind enough to keep the lights on, it will be around.

We had some package management issues from a simple update gone very wrong. I just started things back up and it's looking good so far.

Sorry for the downtime.
