Default Creating and Saving Bot Groups (outside of your group)

WARNING: I wrote this to help better understand the concept of creating and
saving bot groups, but this ONLY applies to servers that enable bots groups.

First, create and spawn 6 bots. DO NOT invite them to your group.
Just for example let's say you named those bots like this:
Bot1, Bot2, bot3, bot4, bot5 and bot6
Decide which bot you want to be the group leader and target that bot.
In this case, I choose Bot1 to be the leader.
After you target bot1, type #bot botgroup create
After you type that, the leader you had targeted will come close to you(to follow)
Now you have 5 other bots to add to the group. One by one do it this way:
(REMEMBER, your adding the other bots to a group lead by Bot1, so you add them all
to his/her group. (as you add them, you will notice each one follow the leader)
#bot botgroup add bot2 bot1 (you just added bot2 to bot1's group)
#bot botgroup add bot3 bot1 (you add all of them to bot1's group)
#bot botgroup add bot4 bot1
#bot botgroup add bot5 bot1
#bot botgroup add bot3 bot1

NOW, you have to give your group a name when you save it. In this case I will call my group mybotgroup.
FIRST, target the group leader (in this case bot1)
Then I type #bot botgroup save mygroup bot1

now you have a group of bots saved called "mygroup"

From now on, all you need to do when you want to spawn that group is type:
#bot botgroup load mygroup (or make a social hotkey for it)

The group of bots will spawn and automatically start following you.
BUT, if you want to camp the whole group, sorry, you have to camp them one by one.
Unless someone knows otherwise, please enlighten us. (smirk)
There is no #bot group camp type of command. BUt if your camping your own toon, they will camp anyways.

You can repeat all of this to create a second, third or more groups, you just have to
REMEMBER, when you save the group, it gets saved with a specific group name that you choose.
It has to be a different group name than other ones.
(You can't have two bot groups named mygroup)

Then when loading more than one group, you just use the same command, but with
each of their own group names, for example:
#bot botgroup load mygroup
#bot botgroup load myothergroup (and so on, and so on....)

EDIT: Just wanted to add a tip. If your having probs with any bot agro'ing when it's not supposed to,
target the bot and type #bot taunt off seems to help as I've learned.

No, I tried that out in testing, you can't invite them in to a raid instance.
But the groups will follow you around and with some defined hotkeys in place,
you can have them all attack a mob of your flavour, hahaha

Keep this in mind though. Server owners have the option of enabling you to get
group experience from bots outside of your own group. (bot groups).

I did see that in the rules table. Is that a work around for bot not working in raid? I see there is commands for bots related to raids, did it once work and now no longer dose? What happens to loot if a group of bots gets the kill? can you still loot it? What if there is more then one player and owner of bots?

I 'think' bots used to be raid-invitable..but, there were more issues than benefits.

If that's not the case, then it was never fully implemented..either way, it was before my time...


EDIT: I don't see a method to camp a 'botgroup' either..

Bots have never had raid capabilities, due to the fact the code was never written, tested, or implemented. Currently they may be some ancient bot code sitting in the bot files, but it has little to no functionality. So for the time being, bots are only able to join groups and be in bot groups.

I make a social that is simply /camp than /stand But this drops all bots not just one group. If you were setting up whole raids being able to drop a group would be very useful.

I will be testing a full bot group in the next few days and will report back on looting if no one beats me too it. Another question when you get exp from a bot is it like raid experience or is it the same as if you were in that group?

There's a rule for allowing you to get exp when the kill goes to a botgroup..not sure on how it's divvied, though...

Bots absolutely could be saved as a raid Kingly, and used to have a much wider array of #bot botgroup commands as well. As Uleat noted, it was pretty buggy though. This was depreciated a few years back, and you can still see snippets of it in Angelox's PEQ Repack. His code still uses some of the archiac bot commands but it has been a good while since I've looked myself. I believe it was after bad_captain's departure (or whom was working on bots before him) that most of this changed.

I noticed when I looked at #rule values bots - it was showing BotGroupXP as false,
even though I had set it to true. But also noticed there was only an entry for that
under ruleset_id 10. So I added it to rulesets 1,2,4 and 5 and after reloading rules,
it was showing BotGroupXP as true.
I was curious, I also noticed under the #rules values bots, it was showing a couple
values - Bots:BotLevelsWithOwner and BotsCharacterLevelEnabled both at false.
These are not in the rule values table, but if I add them, will they work if set to true ?
Not sure what the BotsCharacterLevelEnabled is for ?

Just as a note for previous post, bot groups will not zone with toon, but will when they
are grouped with owner.

I did the 'levels with owner' one..I think it's off by default since that's what the original behavior was.

That one should be in the optional folder.

(When I made it..it worked...)

The server will send the appearance packet required to change a spawned bot's con value and level-up fx as well as do a #bot update.


Not sure on the other one..I think it may have been added recently, though.

Something I just learned today, whether old news or not. One can actually be grouped
with bots and in a raid group. It can only be done with 2+ toons, boxed or whatever.
With the min raid group players set at 1(or 2), get two toons in a raid group first. One
of them assigned to raid group 1 and the other raid group 2 (and so on ...)
Then each of those toons can spawn their bots (not bot groups) and simply invite in to
normal group. Then each toon is grouped with their own bots and in raid group.

I messed with this and while I did have 2 players in raid the bots did not show up as being in raid. Is this how it worked for you as well? The main reason I wanted bots in raid was to make it easier to target for healing. Things is I am trying to add just enough bots to be able to take out a target while still keeping it very hard.

Did you try utilizing the extended target window ? as far as healing, etc. ?
