Default Meditation Bug

I did a search on Meditation and only found one real post dealing with it. There wasn't any real information on it.

Has anyone else noticed that meditation skills up extremely slow on the newest revision? I mean virtually never.

The difference between the seated tick and the standing tick is pretty small. I'm thinking meditation isn't factoring in correctly.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Make sure that you are not full mana when trying to skill up meditate. It will only skill up while your mana is regenerating. Once it is full, it stops the skill up check, the same as how live works.

Trev but does MED actualy works when it suppose to?
I am getting a feeling than my chars are gainign mana at full med speed regardless if I am siting or standing. Cause as you know you should ONLY get med mana effect if you siting. (including siting on mounts)

Last I heard, med does not work as it is supposed to, but that isn't what the original question was about :P

I know there are some IsSitting() checks in there, but I don't remember if they are used or if they are being checked properly.

Default Checked

The problem I've explained does occur when I have an empty mana pool. I've not tried it with a full bar.

Meditate does seem to make a difference but the skill raises are terribly slow.

I was using my GM to set different skill levels and I did see a slight improvement.

Skill ups on meditate are supposed to be pretty slow. Keep in mind that on Live, it would take quite a while to get to level 70, so skilling up slowly is fine. If you are running high experience rates on your server, then that would explain why people have trouble keeping their meditate skill up with their level.

I think you can adjust the Character:SkillUpModifier rule to increase skill up rates if you want to.

We're actually running pretty close to live exp.

The rate of return we're seeing is far less than any other skill at the moment. Just something to perhaps look at.

I've tooled a little with the skill gain rate and that did make some difference but not a ton. It works alright. I just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Trev when I played on your server I noticed this too - ALL skills were rising up at ok rate but meditate was ultra slow.
At soem point when I had 5k mana pool, I am emptied it, removed all FT items, and sat down just to med - in 45 min!!! - i went from meditate skill of 12 to 18!

thats equals to rathly lev 4 to 6 of LIVE char - on lIVE you get med at lev 4 as caster and it gets up to skill of 20+ in a matter of minutes when you med for the first time.

So what is the fix for this? even with only 329 mana at level 12, it takes 10 minutes to med to full from OOM and not one skill up!!!

Meditation skill-ups seem to work OK from a couple of tests I did, assuming you spent at least 1 skill point in it:

Code:

I think my working copy is somewhere around Revision 340, but I don't recall any changes to Meditation for a long time.

EDIT: Cavedude change Meditate in Rev279:

Quote:
Increased MMF_EQMAX_ITEMS to 120000, increased meditate skill-up speed.
