Default Mysql error 1045 help plz SS inside

having a install problem for mysql cant get passed it i have disabled my firewall ect and still not working tried installing other kinds of mysql still same problem.......im running windows 7 here is a ss of whats going on....................[IMG][/IMG]

Sounds like you are still having some kind of firewall issue. You said you disabled your firewall, but was that the built-in Windows firewall, or some 3rd party Firewall? If you are running other security suites, they may be blocking the connection still. I see something that looks like a Norton icon in your system tray with checkmark on it which to me seems like you may still have some security stuff enabled.

Rerun the configuration and reset the password. Thats how I fixed mine. Make sure you have the current password.

did that didn help i can get 5.5 to run good but has no opt folder

For the 1045 error, you may have had MySQL installed before and didn't completely uninstall it. In that case it uses the old root password. Either make sure you uninstall completely or do what Werebat said.

It's possible the directory layout changed for 5.5. The simple fix is use an older version, like 5.0 or 5.1. If you can't or don't want to do that then you'll need to do some detective work to find where the files you need are stored now.

it did that error on this new pc right off never had mysql on it and i tried 5.5 and it worked fine just dosnt have the opt folder,would i be able to use 5.1 opt folder for the replacement for 5.5s in the 5.5 folder ?
