Default Everquest (Not Responding)

My client keeps freezing and says (Not Responding) up top on the window after I try and choose a server to play on. Is this a common occurrence? Couldn't find anything specific through the search bar.

I am in a college dorm building right now though, could that be the problem?

Thanks.

Happens a good bit. Just wait a min or two and it will bounce back. This can also happen if you alt tab out and back in sometimes.

If it doesn't pop back after a min or two there could be bigger issues.

Yeah it's giving the "Not Responding" sign every time i select a server to play from the server selection screen. I did notice something odd, however. It says I own "0 out of 0 expansions." Could that have something to do with it?

Yes, see the FAQ in my sig. They are probably blocking port 9000 at their proxy which is required for playing.

Hey thanks for that clarification. Any idea why the block the port? Just curious.

A lot of businesses and universities whitelist certain ports, so that only those ports can be used, rather than blocking selected ports. Sometimes you can contact administration and have them unblock a certain port, but that depends on the head of IT, usually.

If you have a smartphone just tether your PC to your phone to play EQ. I was PvPing in Rift using my phone's connection with ease.

Default any ideas?

Having same issue with login. Makes it all the way to server select, as soon as i try to join a server it goes black screen/not responding. Also of note, it kicks back to windowed mode when this happens. Running from a fresh install from Steam, windows 8.1, medium built computer. Have tried everything i can find from adjusting resolutions to checking to make sure my port forwarding is good for the game.
