Default client stuck connecting at patcher

Noob question, sorry if this has been asked before (but I couldn't find it). I'm trying to set up my first local server using and running into a problem (that seems to be on the client end?).

I set up my emu server following the Windows wiki, made sure to change both the login and eqemu_config files to have the proper IP address (and quadruple checked that there was no typo), and changed the eqhost file to have the proper IP address followed by the port.

The server seems to be starting up fine, but when I tried to connect using Titanium on both the PC running the server and a separate PC, the "Patching EverQuest" window gets stuck on "Connecting..." for a few minutes before I'm told there was a connection failure.

I assume I'm missing something obvious, but I can't fathom what it might be.

Let me know if there's any more information I can provide to shed light on my problem.

Thanks, folks!

I'm thinking maybe you missed Step 5, on the player guide, not the server guide. :P
