Default Internet Connection

Is this a decent connection to run a server from?

would work ok for a small group of friends, but for a server with more then 12-15 people, no.

Actually, with 894kb/ps upload you can fit closer to 22 players on. Probably 18-20 or so comfortably. The rule is 5KB/ps per player. 894/8 = 111.75/5 = 22.35.

It won't be a bad start if you go public, but if you start getting a following you'll need to find a dedicated host to provide with more bandwidth. The more the better.

This may sound silly so excuse my ignorance. Why would you initially divide it by 8? I see where you divided the Kb/ps by 5, but the 894 was initially divided by 8 and I am curious as to what this means Or in other words what does the 8 stand for that was divided into the 894? Curious for future knowledge, thanks!

8 bits per byte. the bandwidth was (most likely) specified in Kilobits per second and he was saying that a general rule of thumb is (most likely) 5 kiloBytes per second. thus the division.

Default Errors!!!

Hello,
I'm new to the Everquest Emu, but I have played everquest ever since Kunark came out.

I have some questions, is it normal for "an unknown error" to keep me from logging on to servers?

ANY help on fixing this problem/making my connections more reliable would be awesome.
Thanks

Do you use a store bought, unpatched, Titanium client?

Ahh, got it fixed.
It's due to my lame-assed wireless internet connection which has frequently been the bane of online gaming for me.
thx
