Default Virt Box - LAN - No Login

Hey all,
New server setup on linux ubuntu server. Running fine from what my friends tell me...

I however, cannot log in. When I authenticate, it hangs for a few moments 'thinking' then bombs back out to the login screen.

My server is in the public list for EQEMU Launcher and my friends are logging in, just fine -- routing from the outside is working.

I am running EQ Server on a Virtual Box machine (same machine I have my EQ client on). The network is bridged, so the server is on the same network, I can ping it -- ssh to it via cygwin, the whole nine-yards.

I am assuming that there is a setting somewhere, that I am overlooking, to have a local network login. The routing out of my router and then back in, is probably what is bombing me out.

Thoughts ?

post your config and world logs (and EQEmuLoginServer logs if you are running your own login server... it wasn't clear if you are or not).

the launcher has nothing to do with running a server and is not required to connect to one. it is entirely superfluous. i would remove it from the equation until the issue is resolved.

why the extra overhead/complication of running the server via linux on a virtual machine on a windows box? entirely up to you, of course. it just seems unnecessarily complicated.

Your problem is likely a loop back issue or something similar. Change your server config file to use a dyndns address that points to your ip and then edit the hosts file on your windows box to use the internal ip for that DNS name instead of letting it get it from DNS.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yea, have that setup, in the end it ended up being a combination of settings.

<address> is my public ip (dns redirected.. not that it matters..)
<localaddress> in the eqemu_config.xml.
As well as eqhosts.txt file pointing to my server, not the eqemu login server(s).

Working.

Next....
