Default Titanium vs Fresh Steam client

Hi yall, I'm new to what I'm trying to do here, which is make a private server for myself mainly just to goof off when i'm not busy at work.

So, I went thru, installed the server directly from the download (windows), and everything went well. I'm having an odd issue though, where my fresh install of the steam EQ client will connect to the login server (localhost), go to server select, then after server select it just does nothing after selecting the server, gets error 1017 cannot connect to everquest server. (freshly downloaded, not patched, moved to a different directory from the steam install, eqhost changed, blah blah blah)

NOW!

for shits and giggles, I tried my P99 client, just changed eqhost to my localhost login server, and I can create a character and play.

*******
so, during the writing of this post, i think i may have thought up what the problem is. I think i may have the wrong client from steam. I wont be able to check that until tonight (damned work firewall)

I'll update when I am able to verify my client. Until then, I'll just play with the p99 client and kill pixelated database entries whilst having nothing billable to do at work lol

Yes, that is the correct assumption

Unfortunately, current steam is not supported.
