If you look at bmpwad.s3d and all the other bmpwads you will notice all the bitmaps from the very beginning seem to be there! Even the loadscreens!
And then using eq model viewer it looks like all the old character models are still there too!
So maybe some day just for fun I will try to make a nostolgic looking client..
Your right it's all there to use...if you know how.
one day some documentation in the wiki would be usefull on how to moddify
the servers to look ...Old School.

I think some of the newer cards do not even let you chose 256 anymore. You have to go to Settings/Advanced/Adapter, and pick one of the "List Modes" settings that shows 256 color. Looks terrible too. Glad I only did this for a few mins.

Now my question is, wtf is this oldeq? Are you saying this is what EQ started like day 1? I was not around for that - thank god. This looks almost as bad as Ultima Underworld 1 - circa 1992.

If you are running windows XP you right click the .exe and go to properties then check off run in 256.

The was the very begining for EQ. Of course the rate of new technology back then was so rapid that it evolved into what we know as EQ way before it hit the shelves.
