Default Outside players booted to login upon death/zoning

Thinking this is a bandwidth issue, since my current hosting is terribly inadequate, but I am not behind any fancy or complicated router setups -- on my network, we can zone just fine.... but other players outside the network lock up/freeze for a while upon zoning, and are eventually booted to the login screen. Their character stays ingame for a WHILE, showing as level 0 UNKNOWN etc, and they are unable to log back in until their character finally disconnects from the server.

Bandwidth issue? Settings issue? Something else? Known issue?

Also wondering if this is somehow a database optimization issue - my DB is quite bloated, using the default PEQ database with alterations made for my custom content but not too much of the default data deleted...?

Anyone have an idea of things I could try before I rule it as a bandwidth issue?

What's your upload speed?

Doubt it's a database "bloat" issue since many servers are piling stuff into the database on top of the old info with no issues.

The lockout timer is a setting in Rules_Values.

Also, you can check the logs to see if any errors are being thrown during their disconnect.

Internet connections are notorious for having slow upstream bandwidth, which is the important one if you're running a server.

You might have 2Mbps downstream but only 256kbps upstream, which means an absolute limit of 25 KB of information being sent out to your connecting clients per second. That may not be enough for EQ to run.

Hard to say without knowing your actual numbers, though.

They are able to log in? It's just when zoning?

Do you use Navicat? If not I suggest you get it. I have this problem while setting up my tutorial zones and default spawn zones. The default peq zones might be set to a high level or NULL all together, in which case the client will crash because it can't find the zone.
