Buy a new video card!...... or be more decriptive, mobs moving slow or slow frame rate or charachter moves like its snared...

sorry about that ... Here is some more info

The mobs are moving like they are snared and when a npc cast a spell the animation is slow also. I just switched from 0.6.1 to 0.6.2 and before everything ran fine. I am using the installer pack by cavedude not sure if this has something
to do with that. Here is what comes up when I log into the game on my minilogin , world.exe, and the zone window that I connect to.

I get the error that is in bold above when I click play from the server select screen. Also I can never get to the server select screen on first try, it just says logging into the server so I have to end task, start EQ again then I can sign in.

Wish I could help you, but I am unsure on what the problem is with the spells casting slow. as for the Mobs moving like they are snared, I only noticed this on newbie mobs so I increased the run speed of all mobs with a run speed under 1ish to be a little slower then my unsowed run speed.

Not sure of the exact number I used to make them the correct speed, I played around with it by creating a test databse and setting db.ini to use that database while I was testing. ie:

I think the code was soemthing like this:
cd mysql\bin
mysql -u root -p mysql
password:(enter your password)
use eqtestdb
update npc_types set walkspeed= 1 where walkspeed > 0 and walkspeed < 1;

then once you get the speed how you like apply it to your real database, cant remeber if I adjusted the runspeed. also, make sure you have a where walkspeed > 0 or runspeed > 0 so that stationary mobs like scions dont start moving around lol.

I think something else is wrong cuz even my char moves slow. I turned on gmspeed and I move around normal speed if that.

I will try what you said and see what happens

if everything is moving slow including yourself you may nto want to try that... have to wait for soemone who knows more to help you.

something else I noticed on server select screen status on my server is 0. When I was using 6.1 it would say UP.

Is your client running off the same computer as your server, and do you surf the internet / E-Mail off the computer your server is on, it could be a virus /spyware just slowing your computer down. Also I noticed when I moved my server and clients to separate computers wierd lag issues I was havng dissappeared.

I tried using a different DB and everything is still slow so I am guessing it has nothing to do with that. Something else I noticed is even flames on torches move slow. I didn't think virus or spyware are doing anything seeing how 6.1 was running fine on this system.

I think I will try to download eqemu files again and reinstall.

Np... wish could help you more but I am still learning myself. Here is a link to the newest compiles (6.4) Just make sure you manually copy the files, dont copy the .ini files if yours are working or you will have to re-enter all your IPS and stuff.

I downloaded 6.4 , installed and I am getting the same problem. I even get this when I log into someones server.

Well then It has to be your client....
what version do you have? the 6.2 works for 6.3 and 6.4 also

Edit: I suppose it could be a DirectX issue, but I doubt it.

You think it could be the client even when I had a 6.1 running ok. ( I updated my eq files to get 6.3 going ) I will try 6.2 see if that works if not I will try 6.1 again and see what happens.

Thanks again hurt ... I welcome any ideas that you come up with cuz at this point I am almost out of them

Hey, the 6.1 client doesn work for 6.2, thats more then liekly what your problem is. so the only server that will work for you is the 6.1 version, unless you have a 6.2 client saved somewhere on your PC
