Default Private Server - No zoneserver available

I have installed a new private server for solo local play on my laptop. I am able to log into the server and create a new character. I am unable to log into the game. The server shows it is DOWN and the zoneserver is coming back as not available.

It fails to load into the zone "The Mines of Gloomingdeep"

I've searched for a solution on the forum and on google and haven't found anything that works. Hope someone sees my mistake.

If you are 100% percent sure that this will only ever be solo on '127.0.0.1'...

Drop this:
Code:
"loginserver1" : {
"account" : "",
"host" : "login.eqemulator.net",
"legacy" : "1",
"password" : "",
"port" : "5998"
},
from eqemu_config.json..

..and remove the '2' from
Code:
"loginserver2"

My login.ini has
Code:
local_network = 127.0.0.
..but, on a localhost server, I don't think that's critical.

Any network configuration details should not be a factor for localhost as well.

EDIT: (unless you have a binding to a specific port used by the server..i.e., port 9000)

Ensure that your eqhost.txt setting is using port:

5998 for Titanium and SoF clients

5999 for SoD, UF, RoF and RoF2 clients

If you still can't login after this, I would check your firewall settings.

Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately, they did not work. I have adjusted the dubugging to provide full details on all objects.

I'll post what I found when I can determine how to post the full log on the forum. The forum keeps saying I am posting images or image tags.

Hopefully, someone can find the issue in my log files.

Issue I can see is your zones arent loading, Probobly something to do with launching your server. If your using a private login you should get a total of 5 windows running at once when the server is fully loaded.

They should be
world.exe
EQEmu Login Server
queryserv.exe
ucs.exe
and the last one is weird it would say something like 7001:sleeping

post your current start.bat file your using and make sure that you have

eqlaunch.exe
loginserver.exe
queryserv.exe
shared_memory.exe
ucs.exe
wget.exe
world.exe
zone.exe

make sure those are in your server folder.

And your start.bat should look like

@echo off
shared_memory.exe
start loginserver.exe
start world.exe
echo Waiting for the world to finish loading before starting zones...
ping -n 10 127.0.0.1 > nul
start queryserv.exe
start ucs.exe
start eqlaunch.exe zone
exit

Thank you. I have 5 windows opened, but I have noticed the Zone.Exe isn't being loaded. So I manually run it as the last step. I am using the duplicate of your start.bat file.

Here are my log files. They are too large to paste. Hopefully they'll provide some insight.

BTW, I am also showing 0 of 0 expansions available in my client window. Could this be part of the problem?

I also have 0 of 0 expansions showing, but can login just fine and have been playing for several days; however, I start with the t_start_server_with_login_server.bat file. I don't know what difference that may make.

GlassDeviant,

Did you make any database entry or changes beyond changing the Server Name and the Admin password?

I did update the database via the database utilities. But the only changes I have made inside the database was to change the Server name and the Admin password.

I have also reinstalled the server twice, with no luck.

Only twice, once to make a GM account and once to reduce one of my Enchanters casting specializations to 45, so I could get the correct one over 50.

I made the server name change in the eqemu_config.json file in the server folder, which is in c:\games\EverQuest\EQEmuServer\ on my system. I haven't changed the admin pasword, but I don't see how that could make a difference.

You installed using the files from the eqemu_installer_files.zip archive? Did you get a batch script named t_start_server_with_login_server.bat ?

How old was the thread where you found those files?

Posted in 2010. I'm looking everywhere for any insight.

I thought it might be my firewall so I turned off my Domain, Public, and Private firewalls through Windows Defender. I also paused my Virus Protection software. They had no effect, the server is still down.

I can ping 127.0.0.1 fine. Unless this has to do with what ports are being used. Not sure what to check there.

Pretty sure all of those files have been deprecated.

Have you tried using the t_start_server_with_login_server.bat file over the default one above?

Not sure where your logs stand after all of these updates.

Yes, I have tried with t_start_server_with_login_server.bat and with a custom start.bat file. I get the same behavior with both.

I have posted a link to my log files in a prior post made on 10-17-2018, 09:46 PM (PST).

I found I could not paste my log files since it kept throwing an error that I was inserting numerous image files somewhere in my log file text. Maybe you can see something in the log files?

You need to figure out what is causing this:
Quote:
[10-17-2018 :: 05:57:26] [World Server] Attempting autobootup of tutorialb (189:0)
[10-17-2018 :: 05:57:26] [World Server] No zoneserver available to boot up.

This is from mine:
Quote:
[10-11-2018 :: 23:18:33] [World Server] Attempting autobootup of cauldron (70:0)
[10-11-2018 :: 23:18:35] [World Server] (Test) Zoning from character select cauldron (Zone ID 70: Instance ID: 0)
World logs are the best place to start..then check out the zone logs.

You may need to open a command prompt and start world.exe manually to catch any console messages..
..you can also do the same for zone.exe. There may be some boot-up messages caught there.

(Sometimes a server process can error out before the logging system is initialized.)

If there are no messages there, then I'd go back to ports as being an issue.

This is an old copy of my (working) json config file: http://wiki.eqemulator.org/i?M=Pastebin&Paste=FVFBCFyr#

Since you can get to the character select screen, the login config should be working fine.

(Just in case: http://wiki.eqemulator.org/i?M=Pastebin&Paste=Iq5InHLy#)

EDIT: Media streaming services have been known to hijack used ports..

EDIT2: Try posting a zone log using code brackets if you're still getting the too many images error (i.e., [code][/code].)
