I find this lack of PVP disturbing.

yep. look for Stock+ server.
increased loot drops. 1 item loot on pvp kill. spell scriber, skill increase ++, tradeskills made much easier, named spawn more often, rest regen, very few rules, no keys required for zones, no locked doors anywhere, no 'nodrop'
