Default SoulFire - Alpha - Legit, Kunark-Only

Hi Folks,

I wanted to introduce my pet project, and let everyone know that it will be up tonight for some initial testing.

SoulFire is a classic-ish server, based in Kunark. Everyone starts out in Cabilis, and can relive their glory days of the 4 start zones there.

World Notes-
- Loosened class/race restrictions, but still somewhat logical
- Increased XP/Regen/Resting Regen
- Custom pets for BST, NEC, ENC, SHM, and high level NEC
- Shady merchant in Cab sells select old-world loot for high prices
- All defiant drops removed
- Max level 51
- Enchanters can train Animation Empathy at level 1
- Velious WILL be reachable, but wont be easy at first.
- All mobs hp reduced by 50%, max dmg by 20%, and resists/ac by 30%
- Run Speed 3 Trainable at level 1

Future Intentions-
- Other classes will have a defining AA available for free at level 1.
-Add some better, non-game-breaking, loot to tables
-Add some custom content in available areas
-Add some non-Kunark zones to world
-Upgrade mid/high tier weapons and armor (ex. class sets)
-Increase drop rates of normal special items

Questions:

Is this a solo server or legit in the sense it takes multiple people to hit raid targets - ie - Trakanon. Is it small group or soloable?

Will Velious roll out after Kunark eventually or?

Box limit?

Hi Trentn,

To your questions:
- The difficulty of mobs and xp are up to debate right now. I will probably open the floor to feedback as to what people might enjoy more.
- I never intend to make major bosses soloable, but 1-50 should be. Bosses will can be done with a small group once I get to them.
- In terms of Velious...I've decided there's no reason why it can't be available at the start. It will just be a very annoying place to reach until the appropriate level. Old World content will not be released as-is, and will be custom once it's available.
-Box limit is "2" although it's not hard coded... it'll be enforced/changed only by a vote. I don't want to pigeon hole my audience.

Default dieing and repop

when dieing the respawn window does not vanish.
occasionally it blocks actions and screen freezes for me.
-several times, different chars.

just hit ESC on death respawn it clears the box

You'll want to set 'Character:RespawnFromHover' to false because it can cause the clients to lock up and not allow you to do anything if you hit respawn after you've already respawned, hitting escape isn't exactly a good precautionary measure if it can be just an accident and cause your client to lock up.

Death Hover is not fully tested. It was implemented once and caused problems, those problems may or may not be resolved. no one has taken it up.

Hey folks,

Just wanted to provide another update.

I've implemented an illusion-based PVP system, that I am undecided if I will eventually bring it to team-based or not. Each race receives a choice to receive an undead or a guard illusion-creating item that flags you for PVP along with other benefits.

Also, I've also finished adding world drops at a rare chance to provide old-world loot since Classic zones are locked out.

Looking for more testers! One thing to please let me know about is issues with Titanium clients not starting in CabEast/West.

Most recent update on server features. There's plenty of content up and ready for testing! Check us out...

Current Features
- Many more class/race combinations than Live
- Max level of 51
- Tiered Global Loot system - Classic items are rare drops 1-60 (Cloth through rubicite through planar)
- Optional PVP* system, grants illusion to choose to be an old-world guard, undead, or animal
- Every class receives general, archetype, and specific AAs for free at level 1, 17, 30, and 44
- Most 'General' tab AAs are trainable at 51
- All mobs have reduced hp, ac, max damage, and resistances
- Experience, regen, mana, and resting rates are all significantly boosted
- Starting city of Cabilis for everyone - non-traditional iksar classes tied into standard class quest lines
--- > East = DRU/RNG/WAR/SHM/BST/ROG/MNK/SHD West = PAL/BRD/CLR/WIZ/NEC/ENC/MAG
- Kunark is the main continent of the world
- Iksar Quest chain items to be usable by multiple classes
--- > Necro hat = pure casters, SK 1hs = PAL/RNG, SHM 1hb = DRU/CLR, MNK bracer = BST, WAR pike = ROG/BRD
- Velious is distant, too far for boat travel, and only currently reachable through magical or expensive means
- Plane of Fear, Hate, and Air are all accessible...rumor has it Vox and Naggy have also moved to Kunark as well.
- Customized pet models for Beastlords, Enchanters, Shamans, Necromancers, and Magicians
- Epic 1.0s are modified to be multi-classed and currently purchasable, 10k/ea, but will only drop off of dragons/bosses once population increases
- Removed most quest key-entry zones (Veeshans Excluded for now)

*PVP system is basic - I am not set in stone for this, but may become team based, or become a Guild

Upcoming Content
- Reduced power of bosses to be possible with 4+ characters
- Enhanced Kunark armor sets (will now cast spells level 52-60, class-appropriate)
- Epic pet click 'totems' will be boss-dropped, and for most classes (SK, Paladin, Druid, and Wizard included!)
- New 'Continent' will be a custom old-world map with all creatures boosted to level 51+
- Add factions for Kunark cities back in, and adjust players so that quests are available

Iksar's hate everyone.."Evils" hang out at the Overthere evil outpost..At least on classic eq from best of my memory.. Thats before Velious came out and faction became meaningless...

Hey everyone,

Latest updates:
- All AAs are unlocked at 51
- Kunark armor sets upgraded to have buffs 52-60
- Epic pets 1.0 are in
- Dragons are all actively dropping epic 1.0s
- Major pet boost for general survival (hp/ac/resists)
- Cabilis factions are all fixed, and active - no more killer guards!
- All Velious-era armor quest pieces are boosted to drop at a 20x rate
***PVP system completely removed *** - Didn't work the way I liked

Thanksgiving event is now live! Come chase some turkeys, eat some turkeys, and kill an over sized turkey. No limit of turkeys here. Only active in the Field of (Turkey) Bones.

Anyone who's not had a look at this server really needs to give it a try. We've been here a couple of weeks and are quite impressed overall.

Regardless of the Vision<tm> of a server, it's nothing without two things: a good developer and a good community. Nydosa is a responsible and responsive dev who's both involved with the players and actually plays the game as well. The community on the server is fantastic for the most part, hopefully that trend will continue.

If you like a server that's old school enough to satisfy but has enough of a "remix" feel that you don't feel like you're doing the typical SSDD, this might be the place to for you. This is definitely a server you want to get in on the ground floor with. All we really need here to complete the picture is more people playing, and that's where you come in.

There's a holiday event going on now too, so get in there and hunt some turkeys. They drop a couple of nice limited-time-offer phatz and I think they're going away soon.

Lots of new content added to the server, and I wanted to share the most recent tally of features. There is also now a Christmas/Holiday event going on. Come check out the new custom epics 1.5s and 2.0s, as well as the epic pet 2.0s. I've also introduced a new quest to obtain limited 52+ spells!

New expansion is also open for early testing! Come and re-live the true horror of the Oasis being a "55+" raid zone. Spectres to dock!!
