yeah but the EQ logo is a trademark of EverQuest thus EQEMu cannot use it

syberwired, that includes part of sony/verant's logo.... hell, it IS sony/verant's logo.. and its copyrighted, so therefor we cant use it in any of ours

I like skywalk's logo as well.

haha...I know this is off subject but that pic reminded me of a pic I saw back when only EQ Classic was out. Someone modified the OG FV picture loading screen to show a FEMALE TROLL in FV clothing instead and called it Trolliona Vie...heh

Uhm, well, so is the game code that EQEMU uses, but that hasn't stopped anyone yet. :roll:

This has been covered many many times, go back and read where this has been discussed over and over again, because that coment shows you do NOT know the law / have a clue what can and cant be copywrited, OR hhow this EMU works, cause the code here is written by the Devs not SOE.

Okay, I may be wrong about copyrighted material. I was jesting about how people using EQEmu could complain about using EQ's trademark. But since you want to play holier than thou, try checking out the EULA which states:

7. Subject to the terms of this Agreement, we hereby grant to you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Software solely in connection with playing the Game via an authorized and fully-paid Account. You may not copy (except to make one necessary back-up copy), distribute, sell, auction, rent, lease, loan, modify or create derivative works, adapt, translate, perform, display, sublicense or transfer all or any portion of the Software. You may not copy any of the written materials accompanying the Software. You may not reverse engineer, disassemble or decompile the Software except to the extent that this restriction is expressly prohibited by applicable law. The Software may contain license management software that restricts your use of the Software. .

I personaly dont have an active EQ account which means i dont click I agree to that ever, so that dont mean anything at all.

EULA != Law
Agreement != Law

If you violate this agreement, they can revoke the "non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Software solely in connection with playing the Game via an authorized and fully-paid Account".

Plus, technically we are not reverse engineering "The Software". We are reverse engineering the software that "The Software" talks to.
