Buying it just was a mistake you made because you were uninformed about the "free as in beer" state of the project, but selling it is against the rules. They avoided the crime by "making a guide", which is basically a ripoff of our guide. We like to know who's breaking the rules.

johny 12-18-2003 06:21 AM

that was probably it....now my emu wont work cause my dad patched....so...

haecz 12-18-2003 06:23 AM

you should kick him in teh nutz..
and get a pass on your EQ-folder ;)
too bad you wont be playing eq for the next
couple of months -evul grin-

nahh, but seriously, that sukes :((
you should always have a backup EQ-folder
(i know its like 2GB+, but still)

Whoever sold you that guide is likely a copyright violator (unless Merth, Shawn319, just_add_water, Magick, or Scorpious did it), and an opportunist. He took advantage of you.

There are many rules you need to learn to follow. Asking for files is a strong violation of the rules. Since you still seem to be able to post, it would be in your best interest to obey the rules. Read them. Some forums have rules, and the forum itself has rules. We try to keep the activity here completely legal. Sharing cshome with you would be illegal. Requesting it got you banned, rightfully.

haecz 12-18-2003 06:32 AM

johny(truggy)... if people give out files over the
forum (use it as a portal for warez) the Emu-community
might get sued, and we dont want that...
SOE are just praying for a reason to shut
this joint down, i guess u weren't here back in the
day when the people who hosted this portal/forum
got banned from EQLive coz they were involved with
this project :S
and SOE said that they would press charges against
them (since he broke the SOE User License Agreement)
yada yada yada... but 'we' won in the end..
but that was a long time ago, and they have prolly
changed their agreement so we wont be as lucky
(god forbid) next time.

anyways, read the rules and we all win ;)

johny 12-18-2003 07:00 AM

ok, now i see what i have done wrong. So is truggy unbanned? I sware since now i know this i will never do this again.

a_Guest03 12-18-2003 07:07 AM

No, he stays banned. You agreed to the rules when you signed up for a screenname. If you failed to read them, then you should accept responsibility for your actions, which earned you banishment.

Edit: I don't see why you're concerned about your previous account's banishment when you have a working account. Pushing the issue has gotten other people's NEW accounts banned. Just let sleeping dogs lie. It's like getting off with a warning, then pissing off the cops until they ticket you.

haecz 12-18-2003 07:12 AM

sorr johny, but thats the way it is then i guess :I
they do have a good reason for doing it, so u cant
really blame them,, its you or the entire project,
which would you prefer stayed (no offence)?

good luck with everythin tho :S

Wiz 12-18-2003 08:33 AM

johny: Shut up and put up. Unless you're fishing for an IP ban.
