in eq classic +15 hp items were uber then by velious +50 was uber

i think it would be cool to start at eq classic or kunark then expand to velious

plus, arnt all those extra zones extra work?

in all eqemu servers ive joined the npcs dont work, is it possible to make npcs and quests in?

if not then screw the eq classic server lol the whole point is so that the old world content isnt trivialized yet

Yeah doing 1 expansion after another is the best way to go. It is a fair bit of work to get the zones setup. But most of the general work is already done thanks to everyone here who has taken the time to use packetcollector and log pathing and such. Only small details and some portals and things like that may be missing here and there... but all of that can be fixed in a short amount of time.


As for quests, unless someone has already taken the time to write quests in by hand, its all up to the server op to take the time to research every single quest and write all the quest text and events in. All in all, only a handfull are worth doing anyways. And putting quests in is easy, anyone can do it. ^_^

Pre-Pop server
 

I think a pre Planes of Power server would be very cool. If I had any idea how to set one up, I might just do that. But right now I can't even get 5.7DR3 working because when I run world.exe it comes up with a boatload of DB item errors and when I try and login in it says the server is locked. And yes, I followed the instructions to the letter on the link below.

No errors during compiling of eq database. But it's a DR version, so I understand there is no support.

Our server is custom but only expands out to Kunark. I too liked EQ better before Luclin. Kunark and old world are my favorites, but Velious was okay. Oh but I do like the Luclin graphics even thoguh they're a big phat resource hog. :)

Our server is being geared so a single group of people is all that is needed for "raids". I hated the whole raid scenario in EQ so that nonsense won't be making an appearence in our server. It's basically geared towards people who used to play old school pen and paper RPG's.

Basically it's like EQ starting over. In a way it's similar to the premise of EQ 2 almost. Big apocalyptic type events followed by a slow emergence of civilization that spreads across the continents.

Server is down until sometime after June 8th, but check us out when we return. :)

velious was my favorite and most hated expansion, some of my best times were in tov but it ruined a lot of old world stuff, but velious was when it really starting becoming a big raiding grind

if we cant transfer the quests theres really no point in making a eq classic server, the whole idea was that i could go do some old quests that were the shit back then that no one knows does anymore because you can skip it and buy something better at bazaar for 20 pp

For those of you who want an EQ classic server I got one up and running now I had a pvp server i was gona make but it seems alot of people would like to be back in the good old days with pre-kunark/velious. I will expand to Velious nothing more. Not sure when it will most likeyly be when we have alot of peole who are 50 and need something else to do. Till then i hope you all enjoy it. Name is New Horizon. its running 5.7 DR-3 If this is a problem for anyone i cna always upgrade to 5.7 DR4 bu alot of those op codes are still messed up with the latest CVS dump and i'm not gona try and fix em so when the get the next version out with less errors i will upgrade.

Yeah, that last cvs screwed my server up reel bad. Sitting at DR3 for awhile. Gonna ninja onto your server and pwn crushbone if you got it up. ^_^ On my live druid i didnt know about snare till lvl 20. omg that was so gay. i was such a train whore back in the day. :D something to be proud of i guess...

Ya DR4 Sucks right now so much op codes messed up. I got the npcs up now and it should all be running fine its up as of now and uh i'll be on a little later working on the website some.
