OK....I have FINALLY found a solution !!!! :-D
For me the solution is : to run this game in windows 98 compatibility mode ! I don't know why i must do this but it works :) I hope it will help people who have the same problem ;) |
Oh man. Thank you so very much for this. After countless hours trying to get my friend's dual-core rig running EQ properly under Windows XP, that compatibility deal did it. I can't believe I never thought of that. Thank you, from he and I both!

I'm happy for you and your friend :)
I still don't understand why it works in win98 mode....... I have 5 computers running at home ,all with dual core and only the " alienware " have this problem.... Have a great day in the world of eq !! |
how do u run in Win98 mode?
|
Right click on the shortcut. There should be a tab for Compatibility mode. Check the box for running the proper compatibility mode (98, XP, etc).

I wasn't trying to bump it for my benefit; I'm not having a problem in this case. I was just adding a response for enabling compatibility mode so that if someone else has the same question in the future, they will find the answer if they use the search function.

No harm done, but Compatibility Mode is already explained in more depth in the sticky here:
