We knew this would happen sooner or later :) The guy even had the stupidity to use our screenshots lol (This is one reason to make EQEmu binaries only *sigh*)

keep in mind that making it binaries only and you will either be in violation of GPL, or some programers will demand that you REWRITE any code that uses code that they wrote under threat of lawsuits(*cough*). Also keep in mind that it is NOT fraud (unless project is using some "opensource" lisense that is NOT GPL,BSD, etc, in which case some programmers may demand that code be pulled =)).

Do not even argue with me Yodason, anyone who put that code in did so under the GPL and that means that a new project can be created using that code (Meaning I could take the code and call it EQEMu2Cool4U and I don't have to have it on GPL, binaries only!) But that would be pointless because EQEMu would still be going...

and, i just checked the SF page, it is CLEARLY listed as GPL code. Whoever got the ebay pulled should be ashamed for such a BLATENT violation of the spirit (not the letter I don't think, but IANAL), of the GPL.

Thats wrong, you are NOT allowed to do that:

GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE

Exactely, I can do it as long as I give credit to the coders lol (EQEmu is already 'distributed' code, so id just link to that ) :P and its non-commercial, so it wouldn't be illegal :)

RIGHT. its legal so long as you include the SRC and you don't put restirctions on redistribution.. otherwise redhat and stuff could not legally sell.. right?

it is legal for redhat to sell it, they just have to give you part of the profit... :)

Its like Quake3, ID Software doesn't sell the game, Activision does, and they give a portion of the profits to ID
