So, all that being said, I think we need to add a new class of server types. There are the 'Legit', 'Non-Legit' and Accelerated type of servers.
My Definitions of each are as follows: 1. Legit = A server that tries to emulate EQ Live servers in most respects and does not allow use of GM commands by regular players. 2. Non-Legit = A server that allows the use of GM commands by regular users and may or may not emulate features of the EQ Live servers. 3. Accelerated = A server that emulates many of the features of the EQ Live servers but at an accelerated pace and does not allow the use of GM commands. I am using the broadest definitions I can here. :) |
You know, I hadn't even thought about accelerated servers. Now that would be a lot of fun. I think I'd go for that, if there were a stable one up. Or, more importantly, if I could connect to the Emu without so much difficulty. That'd be the ultimate use for an emulator... fixing all the problems that make EQLive so bloody annoying.

PVP?
GuildWar? |
Evertorn I guess you could say will be an accelerated server. We'll have "mysticals" that will buff folks at the newbie levels, then as you advance there will be runes that you turn in for various things like exp and potions. The higher level the rune the better exp reward it gives, and the better potions you have access to.
People have been fairly happy with the progress so far in the beta, I think some folks are already in their 20s after a few hours exping from scratch. So while it's nothing like being twinked or having summon item commands, it's much more enjoyable and fast paced as compared to EverQuest. |
personally, I like the idea of legit servers, but in it's current state the Emu can't really support a fully legit server, until the loot code can be fixed and the pathing for wandering mobs goes live. I'd play on a legit server, excepr for the fact that I already went through the painstaking process of bringing my characters on live up to their current levels (56 Warrior and 57 Cleric with Epic respectively) if there was a way to transfer them into a legit server on the Emu, I'd be more than happy to play on a legit server, but as it stands I'm not really keen on rebuilding those characters from scratch espescially with the status of the loot table.
If you want to play legit, play legit, if you want non-legit play go to a non-legit server and stop ruining play for everyone on legit servers by using exploits to get the servers locked. -Saint or Sinner....... |
Erm, loot works perfectly for me. Not sure what problems folks are having, but I'd assume it's a database problem - not code.

The possibilities are not limited by legit or non-legit, that is too narrow in scope.
what the Devs have made possible here, is the ability to make any kind of world we can imagine. Perhaps in the future of the project, it will be possible to create new levels, textures, and models. When that happens, we will be limited only by our imaginations. :D |
hell yeah
