I learned a lot on this board, by doing search's etc to setup my own server and troubleshoot it (its not up because i wanted to set it up using minilogin, and not publish it to the login server). Working in the IT business though u get a lot of people that can frustrate the crap out of you because the want to be lead by the hand to fix their problems (or you to do it for them), I see it is no different here. Yea there are questions that people ask a million and a half times, and you just want to reach out and strangle them. You can't call them idiots or anything like that (under your breath maybe), you just smile and help them, or point them in the right direction. I don't know the whole story about this suicide thing, but what i read here so far is kind of silly. The problem with the typed word is that no one can really read ur context when u write it. You may say something as a joke but the other person could take it serious because the don't know the context in which u write it. All i am saying is i think we little a humiltity and compassion here for us noobs. After all there is no such thing as a stupid question only stupid people.

You know, comments like that make me realize why i can't stand most other people in the IT profession, that haughty arrogance that comes from disdain of what they do, and anytime someone asks them a question FOR WHAT THEY GET PAID FOR, they act like its a blessing that they respond..

It amazes the crap out of me... You go into this profession to be an expert at what you do then treat people that know less than you with disdain? If the users knew more than you, you'd be flipping burgers somewhere.. Appreciate the fact that youre a subject matter expert, treat those with respect that dont know what you do.. If you are that unhappy answering questions about computers, you really need a career change..

I've been playing guitar for 20 years, I dont call all of you STUPID that dont know the difference between a stratocaster and a Les Paul.. Smart people ask STUPID questions everyday, and dumb people can ask extremely smart questions... When a question is asked out of complete ignorance (ie I know absolutely ZERO about a subject) , then of course theyre going to sound stupid to someone thats been doing it for 10 years.

IM not saying I havent seen stupid comments / posts , I've seen a ton of them, but it so easy to classify something as STUPID without putting an ounce of thought into the source of the question.. Especially online, its very hard to convey messages sometimes, especially when alot of people have a difficult time expressing thoughts/questions in a written form...

Thanks, Trump. That sounds almost vindicating for someone like myself who is notorious for random acts of braindumping! We all occasionally need a whack or two from a clue stick.

Imagine if teachers called all of their students stupid, think of what the world would be today :)
