EQ2 > everything except SWG and guildwars
There isn't a whole lot that isn't better than SWG. SWG had a great concept.. but they had very little content.

I was part of a great city and guild on Lowca, but stopped playing because I was just plain bored with nothing to do but hunt Krayts, which I had enough pearls to fill 3 houses and was waiting to unlock my jedi. But im not gonna grind every damn profession so I can unlock a FS

yes every game DOES have hackers in it, but the difference between sony and blizzard is that while it takes blizzard almost a full year to correct their problems, sony stops it in less than a week, sometimes before the masses even realize a hack was used. They have stopped glitches from being use within 5 minutes before (I.E. the sleeper fight)

again, ill post this....

WoW will have characters stored serverside to prevent hacking. Im sure there will be something like ShowEQ that could happen to WoW, but nothing like Diablo 2. (Ive played nearly all of Blizzards mainstream games).

Ummm, D2 had hacks, people had Ith items, Bugged items that people made, ON CLOSED REALMS, which is server side.... Just like eq, this shows how insercure they just were. It took them almost a year to put a end too it. Plus there were a ammasive amount of glitches and dupes that people use in d2.

dleg6183 05-08-2004 01:02 PM

On free servers which security isn't exactly great because they can't spend the money on them. Not to mention if you notice that on CLOSED servers, you still have some character info stored server side. Thnx la~

only thing u gotta keep in mind is the track record, that is only thing we have to go on. Blizzard = very hacked games, sony = very tight security and very very few bugs. Now anyone can see where that goes

dleg6183 05-08-2004 01:37 PM

This is blizzards first MMO, it will be done differently than their other games. Now, you might think "well sony has experience with MMO's, so their game will be better", however they took over, what was a good game, and ruined it.

Camphillips 05-08-2004 02:27 PM

aye but if i read correctly, varrent is back in the eq2 project, atleast their designer is i know that

dleg6183 05-08-2004 03:00 PM

Most of the development and coders left and made a new game company, which they are currently in a production of a new MMO, which I am VERY eager to see what comes of it. They even got Keith Parkinson to do concept art again!!!!

its sigil games if you want to check it out.

*EDIT* Oh I just checked it out.. if you go to www.sigilgames.com and go to press releases, you will see all of the Original EQ members that joined Sigil.

If you were smart you would not fall into the old trap of jumping into a new online game right away specially EQ2! Trust me on this one I have made that mistake a few times stupidly enough.

They lure you in with all the fansy glitter, bells and whistles. I think the only thing that has been EQ's saving grace is the pure stupidity of the competition bringing games to market that truely were not even close to being finished, lacking massive amounts of content and even game play.

This seems to be the trend these days and until this ugly cycle is broken don't expect a EQ killer to hit the streets any time soon. If anything it will make EQ stonger as more people return form getting burnt....just my 2 cents worth take with a grain of salt!

Happy Happy! Joy Joy!

Who r u trying to kid? EQ has no bugs? That's possibly the buggiest MMORPG on the market. True, they do have good security in terms of hackers, but the bugs r just horrible, and they never seem to get fixxed.

aendaar 05-09-2004 12:48 PM

i havent seen the game with the new engine...but from the time i came back to the time i quit there were relatively no bugs...im sorry but whining about bugs in EQ is in the past...most of them are gone...and SWG is alot better than any other mmog...im sick of all the fantasy crap and its a breath of fresh air

Camphillips 05-09-2004 02:37 PM

when i said bugs, i meant stuff from external. and dleg, get off the whole characters being saved serverside, wow good for that, so their characters wont get hacked, but their are other ways into the systems. A server is a server, blizzard servers = low cost on no matter what game their playing. shoot, people already messed with the WoW beta game. I WAS in it, it sucked, im getting into eq2 beta. Im just saying, EQ is the BIGGEST name in MMORPGs. End of that argument. And for that reason, i believe eq2 will do really really good.
