As far as I knew at the time your access was pulled, you had been doing a DOS attack and cooperated with image on pulling CVS.

If these two are false, I would have nothing at all against reinstating you.

Melwin is not a developer. He's a community manager. He has no access to coders or CVS.

Ignoring all dark_ones little stupid jabs about my apparent lack of work for the project (nvm that I JUST put a big thing into CVS), let me explain the entire situation and how it went down.

Essentially, it started with drama over Melwin having admin access to moderate forums. Note. Admin access to forums. This does not mean he was a developer or had dev powers or CVS access or anything. Okay?

Now, image didn't want him to be admin, and since devs had agreed to vote on issues, image made a vote for wheter Melwin should be admin. Vote turned out 6-5 in favor of Melwin (7-5 but Melwin voted, that was voided, lol).

Right after losing the vote, image made a vote that forum admins needed 75% approval. Which was shot down. After losing that too, image went on an outburst in IRC and kept talking about how he never agreed to voting and it was his project and so on. Basically he was playing King Image of EQemu. LE refused to give in, and they argued, so image did the "ok ill pull all access" deal. And the split was a fact.

devn00b.net was disconnected since image had access there and image has proven himself to be childish and vengeful before. now, a lot of DOS attacks started hitting the EQemu box from what LE said to be on of devn00b's server, and that devn00b along with image had pulled CVS access from everyone else. I have no idea if he was right on that or not, but that's why your access was pulled, devn00b. If it was wrong I apologize, and so should LE imho. Image did spout off on how you would shut down anything you ran because you were with him, etc.

That's essentially the whole of it. If you want to consider me a bad guy in this, devn00b, go for it. But I really never wanted anything else than getting rid of the powertripping. Was so fucking tired of image crying because someone edited his rules post or something.

I mean I just asking... I like working with eqemu and I am starting to work on qeusts for ProjectEQ... I would be a coder but everone beats me to what I want to do...(which is ok..) Anyway I would just like a heads up.... I saw that the project is going to spilt up..?
If so what are they going to split into...?

We vote for major things like adding devs, big changes, etc.

Good riddens to image then. The project has no room for shit like that honestly. Voting is a good system and nobody should have "my way or the highway" authority.

I think the project will only grow stronger with their absence

What angers me is I have been trying to get my packetlogs submited for DAYS. For some reason I cant get atachments to work with hotmail or walla, So I told Image and asked him if i could send it through IRC and he AGREED. It seems like hes the only one who would take them, i have been trying to send them but all ive ben getting is being ignored BUT Image listened and he happily started downloading even though the file was only moving at 1kb per sec and wouldn't be done for 40 minutes.

There is more to being a community manager than just moving posts and moderating forums, now mind you I have NOTHING against melwin I think its about time someone started enforcing the rules. Yet I only see melwin as a moderater, not admin.

Just my 2 copper. I was telling me so...
For times now, Wiz/Melwin tries to get more and more control and override this project for their own in many way : discredit about members, discredit about others' projects ...

What I may ask is :
- Wiz did almost nothing for EQemu . Only for WR or what he planned ?
- Melwin wasn't, isn't and will never be a (good) Public Relation guy
- WR is loosing money about its hosting ... next month every thing would be ok ?
- why, every times a dev or an important member of this project leaves, bullshits appear ?

It appears to me that the dumbass are not who we think of at first ?

• Hogie left because his receive bad traitment about receiving most of the donations.... he was doing all the hosting part ... there was no problem about hosting, etc for this project and some third projects ...

• others left because of bad treatment. Cause of this bad treatment ? they disagreed some of the "current" dev (understand, by those days)

• others left because they asked several times to get rid of dumbassness a certain way but due to their age in this project, they were throught out

• ...

All this to say, don't say Amen to what you see or what people tell you... Just grab all advice, all informations from both sides and you will be largely surprised.

EQemu is not dead. What is dead is the first day spirit :
offer a new way to play EQ and an alternative to SOE.

Today, and what comes first in mind when most of you talk about EQ is : WR ...

There's a lot of misinformation going on in this thread.

First of all, I'm not a developer. I'm not a public relations guy. I'm some dude who moderates the forums, and I'll be damned if I'm cutting anyone any more slack than the next guy. I have forum admin status because I need forum admin status to do what I do. If I couldn't ban, edit profiles, manage forums and usergroups and set status I'd be bugging the everliving fuck out of the "ideal" four admins that devn00b proposed just so I could do my job. A job I have because noone else on the team wants/has the time to do it, by the way.

Wiz works on the project a lot, too, by the way. He and Fathernitwit spent some long hours trying to get Line of Sight for NPCs working just recently.

You're right though nemo, EQEmu isn't dead. Nor's the "first day spirit" of trying to recreate an alternative to EQLive, though. To say so would be complete bullshit; we have a lot of active developers working on the project right now, and it's sure not so they can get free coffee.

image was anything but the only one capable of leading. In fact, as none of you at all would know since this all went down "behind the scenes", image was anything but capable of anything resembling respectable leadership. So yeah darkone, you are wrong. His "leadership" basically tore the team apart and by the time he left, people were pretty much ready to fork the project to get away.

image's account was deleted because he changed the rules to this. I think it speaks for itself, devn00b.

Moreover, we don't "give status to people who don't do shit for the project". At least, if we do, we'd like to know who they are.

Everyone "ganged up" on image because he overstepped his authority, plain and simple, and not for any other reason.

I think that covers about everything. I won't get into the main meat of the argument for the fact it largely revolves around me and that image, devn00b and I had some mutual dislike going on.

I never said that it was you, I don't think it was you. I think it was a misconception. I'm saying the REASON we all turned at you was because it was believed you were on some vengeance game along with image.

- I have done the following for EQemu: FD, waypoints, an AI rewrite, packet rewrite, fixes to combined packets, basic LOS (and now advanced LOS, plus fear and combat pathing coming), several crash fixes, fixes with merchants, fixes with groups, a large amount of packetcollecting, etc etc etc. Yeah okay. Nothing at all.

- Actually, yes. And this has nothing to do with EQemu. We got enough donations to stay afloat now, I only have to pay a little every month.

A lot of us love eqemu and the hard work thats created it from all of the developers. Dont think that because you guys catch crap that people dont care. I do cartwheels everytime I get the newest DR to compile and im not alone. The magic is alive look at the peqguys the work and devotion getting pumped out by them is amazing they almost have a classic database completed. Eqemu has made people who never thought about c++ or mysql rush to the bookstores to learn. Eqemu is bridging common intrests and expanding horizons for most of its followers. Even though you still see the OMG THIS SERVER SUX0RS in ooc every now and then or the idiotic PM's don't think that no one cares. We love all of the work guys keep it rolling. :wink:
